Part of it may be that we live in a patriarchal, male-dominated society and while feminism is taking root, we're still tied back to ideals that came out of the past when men TRULY controlled society. Since society is male dominated and a large majority of men have no desire to see other men naked (whether to avoid having to confront possible attraction to the sight or just because they're really not interested), male nudity is considered more of a taboo than female nudity.

Many already commented on the inny vs. the outy...that part is true.
As far as the society goes, it is just the pervasion of the original Puritans...and perhaps common decency.
Would you like to see all the men around you walking around in spandex, and nothing else? And women, you need to ask yourselves, why do you wear such tight and revealing clothing?
It's kind of funny really. In the animal world, it is the guy that has to dress up for finding a mate.
Humans is exactly backwards. Guys just wear and do what they want, and the girl is expected to dress the part.

Answers from other than men or women would be really interesting.
Males are stimulated by visual sensory input more than women. Women are more stimulated by touch or romantic words.
There are real physiological response differentiations so the difference appeals to the customer.

Interestingly enough, most European films very often show full frontal male nudity.
I guess the Puritanism of North America still hasn't changed much.
I mean, what's the big deal.....they are just dangly bits anyways.....lol

I suspect its a few reasons - firstly a womans boobs are used to attract a mate in most cultures... so woman show them off and lets face it - its hard to have clothes that totally would hide boob shape or size
penis's get hard when men are turned on - this sometimes happens at inopportune moments and for decency sake its best to conceal this in our day to day lives...
not all men wear loose clothes - think bathing suit-> speedos ---ewwwwwwwwwww

I would say it has something to do with the fact that a female's equipment is "internal" and "hidden" from sight, while a male's equipment is "external" and in "plain view" . . . as such, male's need to remain covered . . .

Male chauvinism in society...
And women who let men define the woman's self-image (more so than men who let women define the man's self-image).
Cordially,

i'd say because the major portion of the female anatomy is hidden, therefore when it's shown, it's not really showing much, while the male anatomy is out there, not hidden.
