It comes down the the US Government selling out the people it was designed to protect in favor of multinational corporations who only care about the profit margins and buying our politicians into (and keeping them) in power. It has to do with faulty free trade agreements like NAFTA and CAFTA that allow foreign countries to import their goods into this country without tarrifs, which undercuts the American producer.

The multinationals care no more about people than does the US government. Both want to stay in power and control - either the markets or the people.

Contrary to accepted teaching, there are people in America who have the destruction of this once proud nation as their primary goal - the Bill Clintons (and you can throw in Hillary) and the Al Gores of the world who would sell US national sovereignty to a bunch of puffed up 3rd world tinhorns that run the UN (let's say they control 80% of that organization, just to be on the safe side).

People like those, and their lackeys in Congress are selling American production down the river. They have already destroyed manufacturing, and now they are going after the high paid computer literate service sector - importing foreigners to work for a quarter of the wages an American makes, or exporting the jobs to Bangaldesh so they can hire them for even less.

All I can say is that Americans better wise up and start boycotting Reebok and other $150 a pair shoe manufacturers who pay $5 for material and keep Malay women in veritable prison camps for about 16 cents an hour to produce a $10 pair of shoes that we American fools pay (and sometimes kill each other for) $150. We are paying for our own destruction and those clowns in DC of both parties are ultimately responsible for the destruction of this nation. In another time it would be called Treason.

Because the only color that matters to most businesses and organizations is "green": the color of money.

Typically, they can outsource a job to India (or somewhere else in the world) for 1/4 of the price they'd have to pay here, plus find someone who's highly educated and isn't part of a union. They don't have to concern themselves with health care or 401K plans, etc... They don't even have to worry about directly supervising people: that's handled overseas.

The writing on the wall should have been clear years ago when there was a big boom in hiring temp workers in the US. Companies figured out that they could get highly-trained, skilled, motivated workers for less money and didn't have to pay benefits. Duh! THEN.... they figured out they could get the SAME (or better) overseas for EVEN LESS MONEY! DUUUHHHHH!!!

Understand, corporations and organizations, by and large, are not "nationalists". They are "Capitalists". What does that mean? There's no such thing as an "American" job. America doesn't own the jobs, the companies do. If there's no good FINANCIAL reason to have the job here, then it moves off shore. Of course, you also have politicians to thank. Many of them have passed into law various tax breaks and incentives for companies to outsource jobs. Or, congress has not created a dis-incentive for them to do so.

Now, for YOUR situation. How many skills have you developed, or have you put "all your eggs in one basket"? Check with your local employment agency. There may be job training funds available. You could learn some new skills that may help land a better job. You could start your own business! There's lots of possibilities.

I wish you Peace.

Thomas Friedman's book "The World is Flat" answers this question in depth, but I can tell you the reason why your job is in India is because the digital age has made communication easier over vast distances. Being as such your boss can hire a person to do you job for cheaper and still be able to call or communicate to that person as if he or she is in the next room.
Don't worry too much, there seems to be a little shift against outsourcing because of the cultural clashes between America and the outsourced coutry (india or china usually).

So, get a Master's degree in computer science, and you can get a good job in India. But, you'll make 15 dollars an hour.

You can make 15 dollars an hour driving a taxi cab in the US.

Pick your poison.

But, if you're too stupid to get a Master's degree in Computer Science, better get the taxi job.

Hmmm its coz of simple economic reasons. Coz the cradle of capitalism called the USA beleives in following economic rationality. The corporations in ur country like GM, Apple, Microsoft etc want to cut down cost so that they can earn more profit for their shareholders. So they shift the jobs to low cost heavens like India and China. So its plain simple logic.
