Please don't think badly of me. About 2 years ago I was hooked on Oxycontin. Then I stopped completely. I was recently having a discussion with a family member and the subject came up. Now I am craving it again. I have two wonderful children, a great man, and a beautiful life and I in no means want to ruin it. I just don't know how to get rid of the craving. Please help?

When you get a craving, think of the bad things that came along with the addiction. Think of losing your family. But above all, you need to accept that you will probably never stop craving it on and off. Sometimes we just want what we've told ourselves we can't have.

Take a good look at your life and your childrens life, then go the getto and take a good look at their life and their childrens life. You have two choices up or down. Up, you keep your family and your children will be proud of you when they are older and look back on your parenting. Or Down, loose your family, have no reapect, and sell your body for a dose. (You always have to consider the worst when choosing drugs.) Stay strong, what you have now is priceless and the devil want's to take it, don't let him. Think of the happy memories your children will bring you. Your life is good.

sit back pray and remember what you have. because substance is not worth losing all you have earned. i have been there with other drugs and kicked them. and the woman that i am with now was my inspiration, even when i was given chances to get back into it. so i guess also find what inspires you and what you would hate to lose the most and hold on to it.

Know in your heart that the craving will pass. Might take an hour, but it will pass.

Been there, done that.

consider going to a NA meeting or one like it. If you have cravings, it is best not to go through them alone!

You have all that and you are tempted by a drug? Wow. Just, wow! Go away for a few weeks and leave them behind. Are you happy, now!
