it is not the same everywhere. celebrity obsession is in its intense form in US and Europe. its not because they are talented, some people tends to believe what they see outside, they are attracted to the looks and life of the celebrities. but its all the fantasy, un fortunately some(a majority)cannot realise that, they are only seeing the good side. the unnecessary importance that media gives to them is also a reason. there are journalists even to take the most private pictures of a celebrity.... on the other hand a scientist who did so much to the world is un seen.now there is a culture called 'celebrity culture'(arguebly the worst). I think people should not stoop to a cheap level.

because the personal life of someone else makes people feel a certain way...its hard to explain, its like a connection that you cannot get from current events. Personally I love current events and politcs WAY more than what some fake *** movie star is doing in their life. But tis the way of the world and we have to live in it.

Current events happen to "other" people. It's not happening to us so it's not really important
But ANYBODY can become a celebreyt. There are peope who are thrown into movies just for standing in line in the bank, and as long as people believe that, then there's still a chance that they might leave the boring life behind and become rich and glamorous.

I could care less about a celebrity's personal life. I have my own life to live and deal with than to worry about what celebrity is doing.

People love to live vicariously through their favourite characters and as such, when one can learn about their private lives as well, it allows one to continue on "living". Too, it is patently more fun to live in a fantasy world than the real world.

maybe because people are always intrigued with the rich and famous and like little distractions like this to keep their mind off more pressing, and mosly disturbing issues.
