Truth be known, they're a rustbucket on 4 wheels, and I must tip my hat to the automobile engineer(?) who had the intestinal fortitude(a.k.a. stupidity) to put this tinfoil turd on the market.
That's why you see very few today. They had constant problems with everything from electrical to durability to improperly geared differentials to poor brake life to door pins.
BUT, they did have fairly decent power and great wiper washer motors.
They were put out for a cash grab by the companies as the cars were sought much by the people who were hoping to revisit the true power of the days of the '57 Chev Belair, '69 Pontiac GTO, '69 Plymouth Roadrunner, et al. 5.9 and 6.6 litre engines were cheap attempts to give comeback to the 327 small block, 426 Hemi, and even the 289 Ford with a four pack.
Unless you have lots of greenbacks you wanna part with, find yourself a muscle car that is truly hot, like a '66 Chev Beaumont with the extra chrome and the 327 or even a '76 Dodge Duster with a 318.
Always go with a rich metallic blue or candy apple red and then you have a car worthy of calling 'hot'.

I've owned two third-gen F-bodies ('87 IROC, '92 Z-28), and I enjoyed them both. The only beef I really had with them is GM's love for using super-hard, super-shiny, and super-cheap plastics in their interiors.
