I have two years left of high school, but, the school, let alone the city I live in I dislike. My parents and I dont get along well, and I am trying to find away to be legally emancipated. I don't want to live with my parents any longer, I am afraid that If I get in to one more argument with my mom, or a teacher I am going to try to committ suicide again. I figured, this is the easiest way, to gain independance....

First off you are past IGNORANT to even think of dropping out of school.

To not finish high school will stop you from getting basic jobs at even a McDonald's. And a GED is even worse as everyone in the business world looks down on this as a person of no worth, no drive in life.

If you think life is hard now, school is hard, you are gonna get a rude awaking coming soon. Life is hard, its not always a bowl of cherries.

There is not one good reason to drop out of school early, none, nadda, not one. Not if pregnant, not if need around the house, no reason is good enough not to at least complete high school.

Drive around your town...see those dirty trailer parks with those people that have no teeth, can't speak right, have a different job ever week and do things like pick up trash, work at the sewer plant. THOSE are high school drop outs!!

So unless you want that type of life, go ahead and drop out. Just remember you can't go back in time to change this. Once you drop out its on your record and all in the business world will know this simple fact for as long as you work. And 99.99% of the jobs will turn your down on that basic simple fact.

Unless you really want to work at fast food resturants for the rest of your life you should continue to go to school. Talk to your parents one at a time, tell them your problems, and hopefully they won't get too upset with you about the dropping out thing. I had two friends drop out of school who are now dead, and a third who has now had a child by what seems to be . . . well that's for a different question. But to continue, the Principal of the school handed another friend of mine her walking papers as soon as she turned 18.

Why would you spend most of your life going to school and not finish, your 17 how much longer can it be till you graduate? Finish what you started, when your older you will regret dropping out.
Uneducated people don't make good money, not much of a market for drop outs.

You're 17 and now want to drop out. I agree with the other answer, how much longer can you have til u graduate? My nephew did not graduate and is unemployed, no place to live, staying with friends, not much of a life, is depressed that he needs meds to help him cope. Don't do it!!!!
