Specific types. This assumes you're in their natural habitat with no vehicles to get away with (i.e. shark in water, lion in jungle, bear in woods, etc). No weapons either.

1. Elephants. I've had a lot of elephant charges in my life (in the Indian jungles) and that's the one animal we always watch out while trekking in the forests. Elephants have an amazing sense of smell and hearing and they can literally sniff you out and if they are determined to kill there's little anything we can do to stop them. But, thankfully most of them just try to scare us away and not come after us.

2. The Black Mamba. The fastest moving snake and also the most short-tempered and is known to bite multiple times or in some cases till the victim stops moving - that's scary.

3. Hippos. As peaceful as they look, they are extremely territorial and can attack anything in their territories. I think hippos account for most number of human deaths from wildlife in Africa, so it's one animal that I'd like to avoid having an encounter with.

4. Polar bear. There's no way to escape from a Polar bear when you face it. It's quick and strong and has all the necessary tools like an awesome sense of smell and powerful arms to kill on sight - and it will since food is hard to come by in the artic.

5. Hyena. This may sound strange to many, but I believe Hyenas are dangerous. They may seem cowardly and scavengers, but they are not. In fact, most of their food is obtained by hunting and they usually are in very large packs, scatterred over large distances. They have a mighty powerful jaw and can cause some serious injury should we come across them.

Some surprising exclusions are the Great white shark, the tiger, the grizzly bear and lions! That's because all of them don't usually attack humans even though they may be terribly curious to know what we are. And even if these attack, I believe they cannot be as deadly as the five I've listed. :)

most of the time I'd be more curious than scared (especially with spiders, sharks and most snakes), but given certain situations curiousity'd fall by the wayside.

#1. An American Marine loyal to the president in America (considering what they're like outside their environment I'd never want to be inside).
#2. A urologist with an endoscope in a hospital (the psychological trauma you must go through in the moments just before they shove that tube up your...).
#3. Going for a swim where there's a nest of red-belly black snakes by the shore (you can outrun em on land but not in the water).
#4. A juvenile brown snake that I accidently stepped on barefoot (almost did this once, not too keen on the browns as they're one of the few snakes that'll chase you down for no good reason).
#5. Dentists. I swear they're pure evil

oh yeah I would've also listed the muppet that always ate people; gave me nightmares when I was a kid, but then I guess it doesn't get classed as an animal.

Well a crocodile whether it is on the ground or in the water cause I have watched The Crocodile Hunter and if Steve Irwin the professional has had close calls, yikes,
any type of cat such as lion or tiger because they would ripe me apart, an elephant because they would crush me, sharks too because they swim around you and bump into you, you know there is no hope then finally they take a chomp and attract even more, and my last choice would be man. People out in the wild, uncivilized could be far worse than anything else.

Sharks - especially if they're hungy. I watched Open Water a while back and the image of those poor people getting eaten alive still stays with me.

Mountain Lion - they are all over our local mountain bike trails, and because they seem not to fear humans, getting mauled by one is enough to make you want to ride in the street.

Polar Bear - they sure look cute, but if you get between a mother and it's cub, it's CURTAINS for ya!!!!

Elephant - I read somewhere that elephants kill more than 500 people a year worldwide. Imagine getting stomped on by one, or gored by a tusk???

African Lion - They are fast, have razor sharp claws, and are considered "the perfect hunter!"

Well, two movies screwed me up when I was a kid. I am terrified of the ocean thanks to Jaws and the Giant squid movies. So right there is 2...a shark and a giant squid. On land would have to be an alligator...I live in Florida and have come close enough to one to pretty much count his teeth. I know the last two are not animals but they are the only other two things I am scared of. A spider and a snake (any kind, any size). The last two scare me more than the first three....go figure. I guess because one has no legs and the other has more than four....just not normal.

Thanks for the two points. God Bless.

1) Sharks & Whales - you hear so much bad about being in their space, I wonder if I would survive in the process of getting away
2) Leopards, Lions,Tigers - They are strong, wild animals. Once again-you are taking a chance invading their space.
3) Snakes in general - They just scare me. They are fast, slithery, and to my understanding - dry & cool to the touch.
4) Alligator, Crocodile - They are quick and their tail is very dangerous.
5) Hippo

1) Carnivorous bears - They are more powerful and faster than man on land, in the water, or in trees. Your only hope is to find a cave small enough to crawl in to that the bear couldn't dig out.

2) Large carnivorous cats - Lions, tigers, panthers, mountain lions, etc. -- They are more powerful and faster than man on land, in trees, etc.

3) Carnivorous sharks - In the water, you are usually dealt a mortal blow before you know you are in danger. Even if you did know the attack was coming, there is not much you can do except pray.

4) Venomous bees (African, africanized, killer, bumble) - Being attacked by a swarm of bees is frequently fatal even to people who aren't allergic to bees. In my case, I am allergic which puts me at extra risk. You can't outrun them -- Can only hope to hide in a building or underwater.

5)Piranha - If they attack you in the water, you can be devoured/killed before you could escape. No defense if you are attacked in the water.

Other types of animals - Snakes can usually be avoided and are not that fast, Crocodiles need to get you in their territory, Spiders are usually not around and you have to go out of your way to get bit. Of course, man is the most deadly.

1. A shark, because they don't like the taste of humans and would spit you out and leave you maimed and in horrendous pain and half-dead.

2. A grizzly bear, because they do like the taste of humans, and would sit down to a nice relaxing meal.

3. A skunk. I'm always afraid of running into one of them. Can you imagine smelling like that?

4. A tiger. They just seem to rip things apart with no rhyme or reason.

5. A human psycho-killer, who'd torture me and make me suffer a long, slow, death.
