Hitler was a charismatic speaker who made the German people feel proud again. After the shame and humiliation of the Versailles Treaty, where Germany was made to accept blame for WW I. And the Germans didn't start the war, they simply had a plan to win it quickly that went awry when trenches and machine guns combined. Otherwise that war would have ended in much the same vein as the Franco-Prussian War.

So here's Hitler telling the German people want they want to hear and he gets the nation rolling. Had Hitler died in 1937, he would be revered today as a German National Hero. And believe me, a lot of Germans from that era still revere him even today despite the evils of the Third Reich. He didn't go out like Saddam. He stayed until the bitter end and took his own life rather than be taken alive by Stalin.

Watch the movie Downfall and you will get some idea of how Germans revered this man in spite of the madness that had overtaken him. And we aren't the only people who don't understand his power. Young Germans that I was in college with in Germany don't understand it either. Young Germans want so much to remove themselves from a Nazi past. It's not their Germany but that of their parents' parents and Hitler is the monster of another generation.

For all his evil, Hitler was a man of remarkable abilities who unfortunately put them to work in fashioning one of the darkest designs in human history. Of course, we must never forget that millions of people and not just Germans helped him paint that dark canvas.

Hitler was an outstanding speaker and crowd motivator. He was pure Evil yes, but he knew how to command a crowd. Hitler was able to take power because Germany was in ruins from WWI and he hated Jews, thus he gave the people someone to blame for their problems. From there he was able to fill their heads with all sorts of ideas. He greatest thing was public speeches and rallies. He noted in his personal journal how much he loved getting before the people and speaking. Hitler is one of the few men of significance that I know of in history that would 1.) wait an entire minute before speaking and 2.) be able to get away with doing it without the crowd becoming infuriated. Hitler's main asset to his rise was how he came in, again with Germany in ruins and needing someone to blame. Ultimately he lost it all when he misallocated his most precious weapon that could have won Germany the war: the jet. Germany invented it the same time as an RAF pilot, however, England did not find it to be a useful weapon until Germany began using it in battle as bombers. Hitler ordered that and it cost him, as he should have used it as a fighter and he would have had complete air superiority. Oh well, his stupidity and arrogance. I hope I answered your question.

He got all the people to love him. He did away with unemployment, he added social programs, health plans and more. They people were having a great economy, he got national pride at an all time high, Even started a youth program to increase national pride.

So big business loved him and supported him, he was making them rich. The common person loved him, since they had jobs, get social programs, and were once again proud to be German.

next to invovled religion, basicly control of the churches, the churches were not allowed to interfere with government, but in return he promised not to interfere with the churches ( seperation of Church and State) He gave money to the churches, so they would support his move to power.

And no one of the major nations really cared when he took over some of the ajoining small nations.

Actually had he stoped and left Russia and England alone, no one would have really cared, US was in its own world

Had he just stoped before he went after England, he would have had it all. And as of late, maybe we should give france back to Germany

Because he had the financial and political support of actual socialists. the Weimar Republic formed after wwi was not helping to resolve the crazy inflation partially caused by the punshing reparations the winning countries made the Germans pay, cause they LOST wwi. See, the Germans had put a lot of their money into munitions factories and they had to be shut down as part of the peace treaty signed to end wwi. without factories, there are no jobs for the lower classes,... (Before wwii germany still had a royal upper class with Lords, and Barons, and Vicounts...etc and they STILL had money....)
souce a book called "How democracy failed" forgot the author. had to read it in 7th grade...

I doubt it had anything to do with his popularity. Known for his reputation as a dictator, he was feared during the time of his reign.
People were forced to rally him for support or dread the death penalty. He would oppress his people by coercing them to accept his rules, words, etc.
Although he was a gifted speaker, his speeches were often layered with propaganda.
