The movement is caused by the ideomoter effect in which a person unconsciously controls the motion. The person is completely unaware that he or she is doing this. According to the source below, experiments have been done in which the person(s) at the ouija board first produced readable answers, but then when blindfolded, only random gibberish resulted. This strongly suggests that the effect is caused by the people operating the board and NOT by any spiritual influence.

i thought that i was sorta cheating because i was gravitating towards the letters that i hoped would be the answer to my question.i closed my eyes and asked someone else to read the letters to me.i'm still trying to find a translator to unscramble the letters because it didn't spell anything that i could find in the dictionary while i was gravitating with my eyes closed.ouija works only when you're playing with both eyes open.yahoo answers is more reliable lol

It's OUIJA board... search for that first to get a bit more familiar with what you're playing with..If you don't even know what it's called or nearly how to spell or pronounce it..it's definately not for you.
