Hi, I just have a quick question.. to see if anyone else knows something about this.. First of all I'm a 22 yr old female, if that helps anything.

For about 2 weeks I've been having lower abdominal pain. Strange things have been happening.. the pain is usually dull & constantly there, but lately when I'm sleeping it's more of a sharp stabbing pain suddenly. When I wake up and lay flat on my back, the left side of my lower stomach/right above the pubic area is swollen! Only the left side. It's a good 2-3 inches higher than the other side, and feels like a hard mass is in there....but the right side just feels soft. Once I go pee, the hard mass/puffed up area isn't so dramatic and through out the day it's less noticeable.

But the dull pain is still there. I don't have any pain urinating, and it's not a uti because I've had those so many damn times I know what they feel like!

So....any thoughts? I know I should go to the doctor, but with no cash or insurance.............

Alright, I'm going to try and look up some free clinics in my area but I think the one that is the most near to me is about an hour away.
Also, my gall bladder was removed last year.. so it's not that. And I'm still paying off the 30k emergency surgery bills from THAT little adventure.

Thanks for the advice. :)

And I'm a virgin to men, so no pregnancy issues either. Forgot that detail, sorry.

It could be a cyst on your ovary. The pain you are describing is exactly like the pain I had with a cyst. You seriously might have to see a doctor. They can do an ultrasound to be certain. It can be dangerous if the cyst ruptures. If the cyst leaks, you may feel sick for a few days, but the pain will subside. Best of luck....but seriously....you need to see a doctor!

The only thing on your left side is the intestine..You have the lower intestine leading straight to the anus. The intestine can get plugged up and cause swelling because it is just setting there packing the waste. This packing will put pressure on the intestine and can have a sharp ripping feeling. This problem is usually seen in the older age people but can happen at any age.It is called severe constipation. The releif you are getting from peeing is the bladder releasing its pressure on the intestine and does not play any part with the problem that you have.Try taking some milk of magnesia and see if that helps. It may take a couple of days to work and can be purchased over the counter. You may also want to stay close to a bathroom for a couple days after taking this.If this is the problem,You should feel instant releif after 2 days of taking the medicine. If the problem is still present after 3 or 4 days then I would consult with your doctor because it is probably something more serious.

good luck

First off? Call your doctor and talk to the nurse. It could be that you are having an Ovarian Cyst problem OR it could be a gall bladder issue. Either of these things can get fairly serious. It has also been my experience having had gall bladder issues, ovarian cysts, and a suprise tubal pregnancy that you need to talk to a health professional otherwise you end up in the emergency room for suprise surgery. Good luck!

Yes I sure do! I'm the dad. We thought my daughter had gall bladder problems. (A small one which lead the docs down the wrong path.) A friend of hers had the same ailments as you describe. She had an abdominal MRI. My daughter then got an ultra-sound. Ovarian cysts. they both had them. Very common, yet often "poo-poo'd" by the docs. Do not let the doctors blow it off without at least an ultra sound. Do a simple look up on the net regarding Ovarian Cysts. Good luck!

There are free clinics that you can go to, or you can find a cheap clinic to go to.

You should really go see a doctor about that. It could be a number of things. One thing besides pregnancy I found was this

Abdominal pain -- a dull ache, a burning sensation, or a sharp, stabbing pain -- is one of the most common complaints in all of medicine. Most people can blame abdominal pain on their stomachs, but the stomach is just one potential trouble spot. Any organ in your midsection can cause pain, including your appendix, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, and intestines.

Sounds like you may have a hernia or a cyst on your ovary. You really do need to see a medical professional.
Appendix is on the lower right side so that's not what it is. Gall bladder is the upper right quadrant of the stomach so that's not what it is.

There isn't much in your lower left quadrant besides an ovary, and intestines.

It may be a ruptured ovarian cyst, or some sort of uterine condition - endometriosis. Find a free-clinic, quickly. If it is an ovarian cyst rupture it could have caused some damage.

I am not a doctor, so I am just guessing.

If it is an ovarian cyst, send a question back like what do I do naturally for ovarian cysts. I will be more than happy to answer you, if I see your question.

Where are you from (state)? Check into the county health department, they can probably help you. But you need to see a doctor, it could be something as minor as a UTI, but left untreated it could result in a lot of problems. I know because I've been going through it since April. Drink lots of fluid in the meantime and watch for fever, nausea and vomiting.

I'm not a doctor, but it sounds as if you need to see one if it happens again. Knowing what it is requires one to know exactly where the pain is located. And usually a physical exam is the most reliable way to obtain that information. It could be bowel related or if lower it could be gynecologic. I could even be gas. No way of knowing accurately.
