Could there be more to the knife Will received from his dad in Pirates 2?

This isn't entirely a question, but does anyone suppose that there's more to the little knife that Will got from his dad? Like how was that really supposed to help him? I think that there's a chance that there might be something hidden in it like a piece of the aztec gold or something. Yea, I know the island got overtaken by water but hey, The Flying Dutchman can go underwater. But either way, it's kinda weird how he gave him a knife for no super reason. I think it'll play some big role in the 3rd movie. Perhaps it's just to stab Davy Jone's heart with. idk.

I have a crazy theory! Perhaps the knife is the only thing that can kill Davy Jones. Like in Lord of the Rings where Frodo has to take the ring to Mount Doom because that's the only way to destroy it. Maybe that knife if the only one that will be able to stab Davy Jones' heart. Then again he could have just given it to him for no reason.

At first, I thought it was to stab Davy Jones' heart, kind of like a "seek revenge, do it with this" kind of thing since Will's father was condemned to eternity to serve him, at least he would have a part in ending things, etc. etc. BUT, since that didn't happen in the 2nd film, I think it serves a bigger purpose (one of which we will find out in the third film). However, I think, since it was revealed and seemed to be the "theme" throughout the second film, Will's father might have received the knife from Tia Dalma, to serve a purpose at some point.

I think the ring that Jack stole from the swamp woman (Tia Dalma) may have been throwing off the compass that points to your hearts desire. My son says the compass was off before he got it, though, SO , I guess I'll just have to go see it again...to be sure...

this movie could now have so many twists and turns its all up to speculations now even though it was an awesome movie.
