You know it's a sad day when you have to censor the name of an *insect*.....but i guess i can't avoid the question much longer, soooo.....

I believe i have actually already eaten a spider. Not *intentionally*.....but one day years back i was cooking corned beef hash on the stove, and a spider was hanging overhead. Let's just say that i am pretty certain it ended up in the frying pan.....even though i could never positively identify it's carcass in among the potatoes and beef and onions and garlic, especially after i added the pepper.

Anyway, i really didn't want to start supper over from scratch, and except for there being a spider in it it did look pretty good.....so i ate it. And it was good. I didn't notice it tasting especially "spidery".....but in the years since then i have cooked my corned beef hash with a *lid* over the frying pan.

So, am i off the hook? Or do you want me to eat *another* kitchen kreature?

Spiders generally have specific prey that they tend to eat more often than other insects, but I'm willing to bet that out of the billions of insect/arachnid/bug species out there, that one spider actually does eat roaches. Now, I wouldn't depend on spiders to solve your roach problem. Only a good mix of borax or some roach baits will solve your roach problem. Besides, most domestic spiders are too small to eat a roach. Orb spiders, house spiders, even a wolf spider might not be able to pierce the husk of a roach.

It would have to depend on the spider, some are perfectly nutritious, and as for the roach...no way. The white stuff that comes out when you squash them is concentrated Uric Acid. Not good, not even other bugs or birds want to eat them. Now chocolate covered ants would be a better choice.

A small spider would be way better than a roach. But where I live it's usually to cold for roaches, I've never actually seen one.

Are they the huge, cave dwelling spiders from Fear Factor?

If so, I'd eat 50 cockroaches instead of that. LOL

Ewwww.....I hate spiders!
