Simpletonius 17:21
V4 And Fedora said: "Unto thou shalt be bestowed what thou getteth for Freaking DRINKING AND SMOKING during thy pregnancy;" for thine act which putteth not thou but thine progeny in Jeopardy shalt be a large bet in an Unfamilar Category of Jeopardy.

If you've stopped that is a good sign- focus on the positives you can do from here on... see a specialist and take vitamins, I doubt any medical doctors (legitimate ones) post here, but follow your instincts and if you need to use your baby as the motivation to treat yourself right and take in all the nutrients you can then do-
Whether clean, fresh organic vegetebles and fruits, salads, and of course some comfort food too (you're pregnant not superhuman), read books that make you feel good, listen to music, and laugh with friends- sounds corny but it helps.
Next to a healthy body your baby needs a happy mom. Best wishes, Love
Edited to add, don't give up, and don't slip back into habit after- almost everyone I know with asthma and bad allergies had a smoking parent when they were a young child, and a younger sibling with no problems (the parents stopped smoking before the youngest child was born). Don't learn the hard way, not worth it.

The baby will not have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome if you stopped that early. It could have another alcohol related disorder though, but probably not. Smoking can cause low birthweight. Honestly I wouldn't be too worried. If you stopped the 2nd month, that means you stopped before 8 weeks. I work with infants who have disabilites and most of the problems related to smoking and/or drinking are when the mothers did these things for most or all of their pregnancy. Take your prenatal vitamins and abstain from alcohol and tobacco. I'm sure your baby will be just fine.

It may not have an affect at all, if you're lucky. I went to wine festivals and smoked before I realized I was pregnant. As soon as I found out I quit everything, and my son was (and still is) just fine. A lot of women I know have shared similar stories; they drank then realized they were pregnant so they quit, and had healthy babies.

Had a co-worker whose wife smoked and drank all the way thru without any problems. Next pregnancy, she cleaned up her act and did it clean. The baby suffered serious health problems and died sometime within the first year, as I recall. I believe it's all within God's control. Sometimes, even when you do your best, things just don't work out the way you planned.

You'll be fine and so will the baby. Alot of women smoke and/or drink for the first few weeks of pregnancy because they don't realize they are pregnant, and their babies are normal. Just stop doing it now though. If you continue, there will certainly be problems for the baby, such as low birth weight.

Neuro tube defects are the most common birth defects caused by smoking and drinking - especially in the first trimester. These include ancephaly ( babies born without a brain ) smaller brain size, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and other neurological disorders. Not all babies born to mothers who smoke and drink will have birth defects, but the odds go way up. I hope you have stopped. good luck to you and your baby

the smoking affects the babt worse than drinking. only way the alcohol will affect your baby is if you drank non stop, but if you drank every once in a while it'll be ok. i felt so horrible cause when i was pregnant i smoked and drank a few times but my baby turned out healthy, i was very lucky

if it wasn't too excessive and you have now stopped, make sure you are eating very well. Fruits and Vegetables and milk are better than coke and french fries, etc...
Children have been born in lots of terrible places in horrendous conditions, a little smoking and drinking won't be the end.
make sure the baby knows you love him/her and take care of yourself now you have stopped.
