Partisan politics as we know it today have made a mockery of our country. If people would start being honest about everything and then doing the right thing we would be better off. What do you think?

Interesting question. I've often thought about this myself...and also considered the scenario : " Has America ever been a one-party state where the majority of Americans (75% and up) side with just one party?" Well, after George Washington's presidency ended there was the "Era of Good Feeling" in America where they put partisan politics aside to work together and build America...both the Federalists and Dem.-Rep. dissolved and no one had 'party-labels'. It came again during the Great Depression and FDR's "The New Deal" in the early 1900's.....but generally, America has not been a one-party state since then.
Can our contemporary world have 'less-politics' and more leadership? More leadership yes, but i can't see how we can take less politics out, if anything, it'll be more politics. There are too many conflicting issues that surround our everyday lives: from unemployment rates-economy, war, environment, abortion, gas prices, health-care, natural-disasters, welfare...as you can see the list goes on and on.
What other countries have less-politics (or no politics)? Theres Cuba, China, North Korea, the Middle-East, sometimes Russia, and Africa. What does this tell us? Maybe partisan politics is what makes democracy and liberty so enticing : freedom to be who you are without being supressed in any way, or to be forced to join something you don't believe in.
Finally, let us consider the "Bush-effect", love him or hate him, you have to admit that he has brought life to politics in America. The two closest elections in 2000 and 2004? People actually care more about whats going on in the world, in America, and its people. Grass-roots programs on both sides are gaining strength in numbers, which i think, can be a very good thing. This partisanship makes us, the general public, more aware of everything going on....and helps ensure that America is going in the right direction.

Absolutely. I agree 100%. In fact I feel called by God to try to help fix this.

Sure everyone hates the way things are, but things never change. Why? Because there's no one with enough integrity to pass muster with enough clout and connection to gather the support required. For now. But just you wait and see. My friends and I are on our way. We believe in certain things, like the idea that things are made, they don't just appear by chance; and that there are such things as right or wrong, and that they apply to everybody, even when you don't want them to. Unfortunately, we won't be around for a good while. I for instance, wouldn't be eligible to run for President until 2020, and it probably won't be until a decade or so after that that I have the support and the resources to do something that large. And that's if God is willing to put me in that kind of position.

Why am I doing this? Simple: I have been called. The problem with politics is that good, honest people all look at it and say, "Ewww, politics!" and run away. In the meanwhile, those among us without such moral sensibilities have swooped in and dominated the field for well over half a century. Also, those honest, accountable folks who are actually capable of worrying about politics in ways that can actually affect it are obligated to take up the tough situations and deal with them head-on, so that the folks who aren't able to fix things don't have to worry as much.

PEOPLE, THIS IS AMERICA! YOU DESERVE BETTER! NOW DEMAND IT!!!

I can agree with that but the problem is a lach of information. People today feel like theyre far too busy to take the time to inform themselves so they just stick to a certain party and dont really listen to anything thats said.

Reminds me of two lines from an old Chad Mitchell Trio song: Barry's Boys.

And remember, “An American first, and a politician second.”
Spoken like a true American politician.

Barry, of course was BaAuH2O. (get out your chemistry books to see who this is.) You dems will love it.
