Okay, you are fine, just ensure you loosened that earring and locked the backing as you were told to do from Claire's. Also go to Claire's and have an associate take a look.
Redness should only occur on the first day of piercing after that, you could be having a reaction.
You had to fill out a contract at Claire's which has all of the care instructions and extra information included. Some ears just don't take well to piercings. My third holes gave me the same grief.
If you chose the 14 kt earrings, the risk of infection is less. There is also the least amount of nickle in the 14 kt earrings. The other earrings, Claire's claims, are nickle-free. But the truth is they contain trace amounts of nickle.
Keep cleaning cause even shampoo will get in there and infect. Or talking on the phone with that ear pressed against it or sleeping on that side will cause problems.
When you put on the solution, saturate with cotton balls and squeeze to get it on the posts in the front and back, then slide the earrings through the hole and twist to avoid embedding. Cotton swabs cannot hold enough solution to clean out the hole. Take the backing off gently to clean off the puss that could be blocking the back. And if all else fails, use some antibacterial cream or remove the one earring, let it heal and take it and your receipt back to Claire's and have them re-pierce it with a new earring. You can also call 1-800-CLAIRES to confirm.

By the way, as someone else mentioned to use antibacterial soap, DON'T. This will cause more infection. Never use any soap but clean off soap. This is an open wound that must be treated with care not carelessness. And alcohol and peroxide will also damage the lobes cause it dries out skin. I only wish people with real experience left advice.

"Slightly swollen" and "a little red" doesn't sound like an emergency. Make sure that you are following the piercer's instructions, don't play with the piercing and don't switch earrings untill it's fully healed, Keep it clean. Most new piercings will swell a bit and be tender or red. Some crusting and pus is also normal. If it swells to the point that the earring becomes tight or there is a green or yellow discharge, you have a fever or there is bad smell coming from the area, have your doctor check it out.
Good luck!

After having your ears pierced, it is very normal to experience some redness and swelling, even if you're 'doing' everything right! You didn't mention if have earrings in or not (you probably do) sometimes, even if the earrings are expensive, sometimes you need to give your ears a rest, from them, and it may be possible that you could be experiencing a reaction to the 'metal' from the earrings. I have had my ears pierced since 1969---and still cannot wear some earings, or I will experience a reaction. But, do seek the advice from a doctor, I'm sure you could be given something for the swelling and discomfort. (Ice does wonders, as well!) It will be O.K.!

no no, you are fine for now...you may just sleep on that side more. Relax. If it gets worse and starts pussing, then take it out! Slightly swollen is normal..and red is most def normal!! Or you could be allergic in that ear. Just watch the signs. Red is ok..puss is not...keep an eye out. Use achochol and clean them daily. Good Luck! And relax :)

all you have to do ,is take the earring out of the swollen ear when u go to bed.sleep like that for the night, and in the morning it should be unswollen.if not consult a doc or the person that pierced it.

omgah hun don't worry. i got mine done at claires too. at first they were reddish. remember your ears aren't exactly the same. they are btoh different...they'll heal differently. don't worry. if your cleaning it then you shouldn't worry. if it gets pussy just make sure you don't clean it TOO much bc that can be bad too. remember to turn it only when you clean it make sure your hands are clean! i got my cartilage pierced at claires and i went in clorean and it got infected and got all green and gross but its no big deal... your dr. will just give you medicine you drink or swallow they won't have to do surgery. even when my belly button ring got infected they just gave me a pill to take and its prefectly cute now. so wait a ltitle while. don't over clean. don't turn it too often. and make sure you use clean pillow cases often. if it doesn't get better go back to claires and ask one of the girls that does it if its okay and if you want then go to your pediatrition and get some medicine but its probably fine. don't worry dear.

have you been cleaning them through out the day? and turning them after you clean? Your ear maybe infected saltwater will help draw out the infection or you can see a doctor, I don't like doctors they steal my money and I rather cure myself at home.

If you really are scared go see a doctor.
We can't see it from here.
Better safe than sorry. You don't want gangreene to set in.
They would have to cut off your ear to save your life.

Just use some antibiotic ointment, over the counter, for a few days, but if it doesn't resolve at you getting better, try visiting your piercing studio briefly for their advice. If nothing else helps, you should see your M.D.
