here's the complete verse (a bible verse but no chapter nor verse is indicated):
“Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous, love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end.”
my answer:
love has no definition but has different phases, characterizations, traits... it's upon our interpretations, on how we take it in ourselves... it defies other's opinions or factual realizations... thus its true meaning would depend on your version and yours alone.... to most of us, the phrase may be true, to the pessimist, it may not... it really depends on how we relate and define it ourselves, capeche...... = )

I don't think that any definition of love which says "always" and "never" can be accurate. If anything, love is an acceptance of a person, as they are - good stuff & bad, and when one encounters a snafu in the relationship, you work together to fix it, rather than run away. It's getting far to easy to treat love nowadays as something you can simply "return to sender" when the going gets tough. That is just renting affection, that isn't true love.

It is something true, but not applicable to all human beings.
Some people can have three or more somes, but i can't and i only go one on one.
Same like what you quoted. Some people jealous, some not, some are rude like those in the BDSM action, some go romantic on the beach, some will share everything in life, some will go for things like 'what is yours is mine, what is mine is mine.'.
So just take it easy chill ya!

Sounds like a verse from the Bible. I pretty sure it says somewhere that Love is never jealous.

i completely agree as this is the nature of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! and the best way that makes sense to me is to see that really love and fear are opposites more then love and hate are. the nature of opposite being when you have more of one then obviously the less of the other! the more white the less black etc. now since jealousy is obviously a fear then it lacks love. and in all those situations that you used so far to describe love you can also see in them the lack of fear i am talking about. and in fact the more fear there is the more difficult it is to have those conditions you described. i hope this helped

What a nice thought. There aren't many truly loving people in the world are there? But a lot of people are working on close approximations.

Real love is. Quite a bit of what people call love is lust or desire to be in a relationship or 50 other things. Treating the person as you would want to be treated or more better than yourself is real love.

Love? No.
The expression of love? Yes.
We can have moods where we are angry and impatient and resentful with people we genuinely love.
But when we express the love we feel, it is kind and selfless.
