Nah. You'll be fine. It's more painful the next few days after you get whacked: tender, really.

Coming from experience and piercing thousands of ears, there is no pain. Your lobes will feel really hot for a moment but the piercer should put on some clear solution which will cool it down right after. I used to let the new employees practice their first piercings on my ears all of the time. And I survived. It's just a pinch and most times you expect more pain so you hardly notice it.
And bleeding should not occur only in rare instances. Keep the backings locked at the end of the posts so the ears have room to heal. I would suggest you get pierced with 14kt cause it promotes the fastest healing. Turn and slide them three or four times a day. And wash your hands before you touch them. Even a little dirt will infect. Also feel your lobes for scars called keloids before you get pierced. They are harder to pierce through and could cause infections. But I've only seen that twice or so and that's with people who've have previous piercings.
And if you're still too chicken, go to you drug store and buy some EMLA patches. Cut one in half and wrap each piece around your lobe about an hour before your piercing. This will freeze the lobe to minimize pain.
Get your ears done at Claire's cause they carry the best pain-free solution and use the extra solution to clean them several times a day. If you don't get them pierced there, at least buy the solution from them. I also use mine to clean cuts and scrapes without the sting of alcohol. But cleaning thouroughly does help, especially after a shower, wearing cosmetics or perfumes, or washing your hair cause that could increase infections.
If you want a gun-free piercing, go to a certified piercer, but you'll pay more. By the way, it's not a gun but an instrument. I know, the one I have does not shoot bullets.
Last advice is leave original piercing earrings in ears for at least 6 to 8 weeks. Then replace with nickle-free earrings immediately, if you want to change them. Or just leave them in longer. Never leaves holes without earrings for more than a day for the first year. They can and will close up that easily.

Don't be scared! I was really scared when i got my ears pierced in 6th grade. I got it at claires it wasn't that bad by the way. First they sanitize your ear. And then they use a pen to mark a spot where they will pierce it. Then they use a piercing gun to pierce your lobe. It will happen REALLY FAST. As soon as that BANG is done, the earring is in your ear. It doens't hurt as bad as I thought it would be. It feels more than a pinch though. Then they'll pierce your other ear. Your ears may sting for about 10 minutes then after that it'll be alright! Piercing your ears is awesome because you get to wear cool earrings and match your outfits. You'll have to wear the basic stuff (like white gold studs) for 6 weeks first. Make sure you clean your ears 3 times a day! To clean it, dip a cotton ball in the cleaning ear formula claire's will give you. Then wipe around your earring area. And twist the backing of your earring to release any debri caught. It is possible your ears will get infected (almost everyone i know got infected at least once). Don't be afraid it won't hurt that much. Make sure you take really good care of your ears though! DON'T EVEN TAKE OUT YOUR EARRINGS for 6th months! (unless your taking it out to change your earrings). After 6 months you can begin leaving out your earrings. Good Luck! don't be scared!!

:) I wont lie to you it will hurt but it wont hurt a LOT. When they punch it in it will be so fast that you might not feel anything for a split second then it will start stinging a little. Keep relaxed because the more nervous you are the more tense your nerves will be so it will sting more. Make sure that where you get it peirced is a certified place with sanitary methods. You should ask them how they peirce. If they use a disposable gun then that is good because it means that gun will be for your ear and your ear only so it wont get infected. The sting wont hurt a lot and it will go away really quick and it is really worth it because after that quick moment of discomfert you get to wear beautiful earrings! :) good luck

It is a pinch that stings for several seconds afterwards.. up to a few minutes. Just remember though that the few moments of pain you will go through will be completely worth the rest of the week, months, and years you will have your pierced ears!! you have so many minutes in a day.. what is two minutes of pain?

in my case i don't remember because I was a newborn baby, but when my pediatrician pierced my daughters ear lobes (she was about one month old) she screamed like a banshee and i almost died of grief and shame for submitting my baby to such torture for purely aesthetic reasons. ( Now she loves wearing earrings and of course doesn't remember anything)
The person that is going to pierce your ear lobes can put a local anesthetic to dull the pain. If you can tolerate going to the dentist, you can handle this.

You know what I suggest?? Go to a perfessional piercer. If you go to one of those silly little "Clair's Accessories" stores and have them pierce your ears, then it will hurt more than a pinch. Those guns are very unsanitary as well. Go to a piercer. They will pierce your ears with a very small needle and you will hardly feel it. I really think this is the best way for you to go. Get it done right, and take good care of them!! Go to a piercer, trust me. :)

The actual act of getting your ears pierced will be over before you know it. It's like a quick pinch.
Afterwards, the next few days your earlobes will be a little tender, but just follow the aftercare they recommend and you'll see it was well worth it!

its just like getting a shot, i would also strongly suggest following the cleaning procedure afterwards. when i got my ears pierced even with the proper cleaning, it got infected and the earings had a hard time coming out, but it all worked out in the end and i'm happy with my ears
