I have Comcast as my service provider. We also use this thing called "Netgear". So if I wanted to access the internet from my other laptop in a different room like downstairs...how do I do it? It worked on my other laptop when I first bought it and I did the set- up process because when I plugged it in, the laptop automatically detected a wireless network. However, on this laptop it did not.

Check the interent connections on your laptop, see if there is a wireless something... Open it and search for connections.. you should see it and then select connect. ( if it does not find the network, then move the laptop closer as it would be the signal not being strong enough) sometimes it does not go through walls with wires in them to well.

Does the laptop have some kind of wireless reciever? Right click on 'My Computer' then go to 'Properties', from there, click on the 'Harware' tab, and then 'Device Manager'. Click the little + on 'Network Adapters', and if it doesn't has some kind of wireless reciever, then you need to purchase one seperately.

If it does show some sort of wireless reciever, then close out of all of that, go to 'Start', then 'Connect To...', and click 'Show all Network Connections'. Once there, on the left column, there should be something that allows you to set up a new network connection. Follow the steps and it should connect, if not, try moving the laptop closer to the access point.

Also, durring the setup, if you need a WEP key (you probably do becuase you are using Comcast), go to the laptop that has internet connection, and at the address bar, type 192.168.0.1 The default username is 'comcast' and the password is '1234'. Under "Technician Setup", it should give you a WEP key,...

Hope this helps--

Click on the icon that controls your wireless networking, in the Systray. (Lower right corner) Click "View Wireless Networks,"then select your network when presented with the choices. Be sure to fill in any encryption keys if it is a secure network and set your computer to automatically connect whenever your network is in range.
