My friend is wondering whether this movie would be too scary for her 8 year old son to see. Anyone who has actually seen it, please respond. I know it's rating and what that means. I want to know more, from people who've actually seen it. Did you feel it is too scary? He saw the first one and was ok with it.

Well Im 16 and there were a couple of parts that made me jump out of my seat. I would think that this movie may be a little much for an 8 year old. I would say that this movie had more scary scenes then the first one.
My suggestion would be that the child didnt see the movie, at least not yet, he may not be ready for it. But if he must see it then the mother should see it first before she takes him, maybe she could judge it for herself.

Well, if he's seen the first film, he should be ok with the scenes of pirates sword fighting and stabbing each other, etc. etc. and used to the scary creatures (though Jones might be kinda intimidating for an 8 year old). I will point out that there are some somewhat graphic killings this time around in "Pirates," namely some throat slashing, which is audibly unnerving, and as someone pointed out, the visual whipping of Will by his father.

The violence, not so much the visual stuff, was more rampant this time around in the film, but like I said, if he's ok with the violence in the first film, then I think he will be ok. Ye be warned, though.

BEWARE SPOILERS

If the kid is predisposed to being a jumpy little guy no I wouldn't take him.. There are some pretty awesomely realistic effects in the movie that would scare the bejeezus outta him! If he is a pretty well rounded 8 year old that can stand the scare I would still be a little worried about the ending ( someone very important to the movie APPEARS to die.) But if he knows all about movie magic and knows that the cliffhanger ending may not be what it seems I don't see why he wouldn't love the movie just as much as me or my kids did!

I guess it depends on the kids maturity level. Part 2 is way more violent than the 1st, plus some of Davey Jones' crew are just creepy looking. There is also a LOT more fighting and there is that scene where Will is flogged with a whip by his father. Now normally picturing a whip and Orlando Bloom is a good thing ^_~...not this time.

Proceed w/ caution

Some parts are pretty scary and tense, but if he has seen movies like this before it might be ok. The scenes with the sea monster are pretty intense and Davy Jones is a bit frightening too.

the solid became large and the mandatory plot line became quite properly stepped ahead for the most area. yet there have been some parts that dragged alongside in accordance to some human beings and ought to were somewhat better planned out. i imagine it had to many pun-like scenes that performed off the first action picture. in case you seeing the 2d with out watching the first one first, many of the scenes may were over regarded and under no circumstances appeared extremely almost as good as those which have considered both. all in all it became a good movie. can't look forward to the 0.33!

I think that some scenes might be just a tinsy weeny bit scary but overall it was a pretty non-scary movie. If her eight yr old has seen the first one there is no reason why he can't bare this one.

my 5 yr old nephew had to leave 5 min. in. he was dying to see it and he got really scared after the opening scenes on the island prison. It is a little dark, but generally ok.
