If there are no age restriction on the deed of the property, the neighbors can sign as many petitions as they like, but it won't do them any good. Your landlord rented this home to you, and you have the legal right to stay there until the lease expires. If you purchase the home, you can stay there also.
Enjoy your new home, and don't worry about the neighbors. Once they find out that your children are well behaved, they'll leave you alone.

Sounds to me like you can't control your kids. Why would the people be complaining if your kids were acting the way that they should? And why is a 21 year old still at home? I bet the 21 year old is the main problem. Probably the 21 year old has a lot of traffic coming by the house to see he/she. And this makes the elderly people nervous. Watch yourself because the landlord will believe the elderly before he will believe you. Simply take care of your business in the right order.

People signing a petition after the fact, can not get anything done.
If there were rules in place, like many retirement communities have, before you moved in, regarding age, then they can stand up.
If you are forced out by your landlord, you should have grounds for a lawsuit.
Try talking to your neighbors, and finding out what it is exactly your kids are doing that they do not like. Maybe you can fix the problem domestically, if you let them know you are willing to keep your kids from disturbing them.
Hold your ground, control your kids, and good luck.

Sounds like a race issue and regardless the courts won't make you move. Are you the only African American family in the neighborhood?

no way they have no right to make u move elsewhere, who do they think they are!! however, if there are some ground rules in the neighborhood saying no kids allowed n everyone else in that neighborhood signed it, then its bad news. If they don't then ur good to go!! don't worry too much!!

What power does a partition have....or a petition for that matter. At least you know how they feel. Stay! They will get used to you. I would not try borrowing a cup of sugar.
