I want to buy a PC but I want the best processor available. I read that the Pentium line will be retired and the new Intel Core processors will be released later this month. Which is better? Which is the best to get? Thanks!

Better for what? You did not say what the computer is going to be doing.

Multicore processors, either Intel or AMD, are great for multitasking. But for the same price you may get a faster umiprocessor.

They may be phasing out Pentiums, but they'll be floating around for quite a while yet. People aren't going to throw away perfectly good computers just because there is a newer processor out.

I recommend you go for Intel duo core cpu. Over at PC World, they have been benmarking Intel duo core cpu and it is quite impressive. PC World published an article about the duo core cpu's. They tested some inexpense PC's with duo core cpu. You can find the article at:

the intel coreduo processors are already out. i would recommend waiting to buy a pc when windows vista comes out, or just get a mac, and you'll have no troubles at all!
