just saw the announcement and read a brief history of the band-ouch! No question-woulda been no Floyd without Syd. First single about a guy who stole women's underwear-Arnold Layne-absolutely twisted! See Emily Play-the 2nd single that charted-yeah! Piper At The Gates OF Dawn-utterly childlike, yet perfect for late summer of psychedelic 1967 (August)-only crap song on it was Roger's!! And without Syd to sing about, there wouldn't have been a "Darkside" to ride the Billboard charts 4ever, nor a Wish U Were Here LP. Thanks, Syd!

RIP Syd. Never played on the more famous albums but the man gave the world the absolute classic/mad "Bike" and for that, he should be remembered. Actually, for "The Pipers At The Gates Of Dawn" album should go down as his eternal legacy.
How I wish he was here....

We'll miss you Syd... you should've laid off the acid back in the sixties, you could have stood on top of the world with Roger Waters and the rest of the boys instead of the Looney Bin.... such a sad and tragic tale is his.... RIP indeed.
