Whenever I Look Up Tabs it usually says this. "This file is the author's own work and represents their interpretation of the song. the owner of this website has not reviewed the contents of this file and does not support coppyright infringement or violating the rights of any artist or legal entity. if you feel that the content of this file may be violating copyright law, you may not use the information displayed here in any way."

"This file is the author's own work and represents their interpretation of the song." That part should be self-explanatory

The rest simply says the host of the site has not seen the file, or in other words, doesnt know exactly what it is. Despite this, the host doesnt endorse illegal sharing of copyrighted material. So forth, if the file is of copyrighted material, it is not to be shared.

This clears the host of any possible copyright infringement. So if shared, the blame falls squarely on you, the user.

It's a disclaimer.

The copyright law says you can't use the work without a license or permission, however a TAB is a re-working of the composition.

It's also a matter of opinion.

What string and fret should be used?

There are often at least 2, if not 3 choices.

Tabs are rarely authorized.

It's just like chord charts. They are quazi illegal if you name that tune, but when push comes to shove they are the same chords as 10 other songs.

If you put the lyrics in, then it's copyright violation!

It means that tabs is a fan web site. The chords and stuff are put there and it has nothing to do with the actuall version. It maybe copying under no copyright laws and is technically illegal. But who cares. It is free.

It means that the person that "tabbed" it didn't actually look at sheet music, but simply wrote down what they hear in the song. So the "disclaimer" is just saying that the tabber may have missed something.

?? Dude thats the thing you click on when something pops up, like they are other things you can click on, Like when you open up properties by right clicking on your desktop there will be tabs saying desktop, themes, screen saver, appearance, settings. Maybe not though, this is the music category. lol!

It means that the person wrote the tabs him/herself... and if some of it looks exactly as it is really written, then it is coincidental. It means that if they wrote something that is EXACTLY THE SAME, it was an accident.
