I'm sure it's an Asian thing (three other Asians confirm this), but my parents keep warning me against showering right after I eat. They say it messes up the stomach/kidney/liver (sorry, my Chinese is disappearing). Is this true?

It's not true. It's one of those superstitions that parents hand down because it was handed down from their parents and so forth. I know with my family, there are still crazy superstitions that I do even though I know it's not true. It's crazy!

I was always told as a kid not to go swimming after eating because I might get a cramp and drown. Same goes for the shower.

No.. I guess not all myths have some fact to them.
You dont begin truly digesting your food until an hour or so after you eat so your not messing with your stomach.
And your kidney is hard to mess up when showering, as is the ever ellusive liver.
:-)
Eat and be clean! you'll be fine.

I have never heard of that. How weird. Ummm...... I hope it doesn't cause that's what I do. I don't see the point in taking a shower and than eating. If you are like me you will have to take a shower again. LOL! I always spill stuff on me.

Do you mean swimming?
It is an old wives tale that you will get cramps in your stomach if you go swimming after you eat. My mom always made me wait an hour.
Now medical science says it isn't true.
