apply no responsibility to Bush?

... they always say "he's doing the best he can"... well that's great... that's like me defending welfare abusers by saying "they are doing the best they can"... which is a horrible excuse in both instances, ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE OF THEM IS THE FACE OF OUR NATION...

if he can't hack it, fire him... just like every good Republican does in the business world every day...

Donut44: I'll put it to you like this... if you had an employee that had one of the worst events occur in company history (9-11) and a pathetic response to a company emergency (Hurricane Katrina) and the same guy's department was CONSTANTLY WAY over budget... he probably wouldn't be around very long... and he seems to be breaking company rules (wire tapping and guantanmo prisoners, according to the constitution)... company secrets have been leaked in his department (CIA leak)... his information was incorrect on a company aquisition (no WMD in Iraq) and I could go on...

granted some of those things aren't his fault... but people get fired all the time in the business world for much less...

pachl@sbcglo: if you take a class and bomb a big first test... you don't make an "A" in the class

9-11 was the most major security breach in America in the past 50 years... thats an "F" on the first test in my opinion... granted it wasn't all his fault, but that shouldn't have ever happened... sorry if I grade hard... (Clinton gets an "F" on that one too)

the invasion of Afghanistan gets an "A" in my book, so that averages out a "C"...

then he invades Iraq... which I haven't seen anything to make me believe that they were a viable threat, so I give him a "D" on that one...

then he says he doesn't "care" where Osama is... even though al-Queda clearly has major operations in many other countries including Pakistan, Sudam, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia... so I give him an "F" on that part...

homeland security seems to be doing some good things.. gathering information and bringing agencies together... but it seems to do some useless stuff at times too.. like telling people to duct tape their windows?... that was wierd... so I give them a "B"...

I don't know what all that comes out to... but it's not an "A"... maybe I'm just a tough grader?

Because the Republican Party is always about blame. About blaming that guy for the North Koreans having missile technology, blaming the other guy for bringing down the deficit and overcharging taxpayers, about blaming this guy for stealing money from his companies shareholders. You get it? It's about accountability and shifting blame just like kids do when they break something and try to hide it from view. "WHO DID THIS??!!! not me." They mean taking "personal responsibility" for trying to straighten things out that weren't broken to begin with. "Look at what that guy did! Now I, being Super Republican, have to take the "personal responsibility" to clean up the mess that we made in the first place and blamed on someone else from another party because you forgot that we set those rules in place 30 years ago and he was merely enforcing those rules and we didn't like that he was using our rules for his gain so now I'm stepping in to clean up the mess that was originally made by us but secured by you because of (get this) the STRATEGERY of the insurmountable forces in place during that time when the other guy enforced those rules and......................what was the question again?

It is about, the elections, when it becomes more important to elect your candidate then to have a fair and honest election it is a statement that will be made during then entire term in office. The truth is they are so desperate to top Bill Clinton's successful presidency that they will stop at nothing to defend what might be the most criminal of officials that ever was. It is not just the mistakes that he has and will make but the actual laws that he is breaking both domestically and globally.

The highest, most solemn duty of the Commander In Chief is to protect the U.S. against foreign attack.

On that issue, you would have to give President Bush an "A".

The President is only one person in a multi-million person bureaucracy. He makes the ultimate decisions, but at some point he has to delegate responsibility. When people want to fault him for issues such as Abu Ghraib it makes me wonder is people give even one second's worth of consideration to how a chain of command works.

If a bank fails, are you going to blame Bush because some suits weren't following state or federal regulations? At what point do you point the finger at the people actually responsible?

When people were left stranded in the wake of Katrina, did you blame Mayor Ray Nagin who has all the local resources at his disposal? Did you blame governor Blanco who could have used the National Guard?

This Bush bashing has got to stop. It's ridculous and irresponsible.

(But your questions are ten times more thoughtful than Kookoo Bananas, so keep on posting.)

Lets face it, Bush could be doing a better job. He hasn't clearly communicated with the American people and some of his policies haven't been fully effective.

However, if he is doing what hes doing with the best interests for the country then, short of him being 100% wronge, what can we do.

The only solution would be impeachment, thats not going to happen and doesn't need to. The government is not like a business in that someone can just fire him.

Republicans play on the mass of the inhabitants with this religious "moral" platform speaking about "authorities courses" yet interior of a similar token all they do is remove from the country and delivers to the wealthy. seem in any respect those those with the homestead foreclosure yet they bailed out the funding economic business organisation WHO floated the loans. for sure we were given the money from China AND the voters can ought to pay it decrease back (ultimately) yet they did not help the accepted "joe blow". I don't say he is "doing the best he can", I think he is doing a great job.

Bush has a personal responsiblilty to make decisions to protect this country. He has done that. If he were to flip flop around all the time, like the liberal socialist party (democrats), that would not be 'being personally responsible'.

I think the important thing that both sides seem to focus on is personal responsibility. Personal responsibility is more about you than someone else, its not about you telling someone what they should feel thier responsibility is, its a personal undertaking. Why cant we, take responsibility, personal responsibility for ourselves and not worry so much about what other peoples business is. And now I would like to take this time to invoke my ninth amendment rights.

The President hasn't been perfect, but we only had the country attacked,We've gone to war,and the largest natural disaster in our country's history,I think he's done a good job,and am thankful every day we don't have a President named Kerry or Clinton.

every one fails most of the time to accept personal responsibility. Everyone thinks everything is someone elses fault and not there own. Whether republican, democrat or what ever else. Its sadly part of human nature to pass the blame onto someone else.

Your question lacks a basis on which to judge what you mean. I don't mean you personally are lacking anything, I just mean it is difficult to judge what responsibility you are looking for him to own up to. If you like him, then why is someone going to think he did anything needing to be responsible for. If you hate him, then you are going to think he is responsible from everything from world hunger to the fact you missed breakfast this morning yourself.

So really, your question is one where it depends on your idea of what is wrong and who is responsible. Obviously if he is not taking responsibility for something you think he is responsible, chances are good it is not that he is not held to the same standard, but instead because they don't see it your way.
