This would be legal. If you can see his files there, then he set them up for sharing, and before you can share something, it give you a warning message. The warning message says You are putting your files up for risk and stuff like that. If you hacked into the persons network, then it would be illegal.
The people above me have never made a network, and they know nothing about what they are talking about. (Except the people that said legal)

Illegal. Falls under "Invasion of privacy". Samitg2003 is completely wrong. If you were to study law, you would realize that city, state, and federal law supercedes any and all instructions, warnings, and permissable acts associated with and/or contained with a private product. I.E. if a firearm manufacturer's instruction manual said to point the barrel of the gun towards say....a bird, and then to fire, that would not justify the fact that you just shot a Bald Eagle. It is illegal to shoot these birds in the United States, and you would be prosecuted.

You would be hacking because you're accessing information that is not yours, however it would only be illegal if your brother decides to press chanrges. In other words the real question is how good is your relationship with your brother?

If he is part of your network then at some point he has agreed to allowing your accessing those files. So, in the area of legality...as long as you don't tamper with, or destroy them, then your are lying in the gray area of the law.

Digging into someone's personal files without permission in any circumstance is illegal.

Technically it's illegal, but I steal my neighbors internet all the time. He doesn't seem to care. Do what you gotta do, but remember....curiosity killed the cat.

It depends - does he know you're doing this or not, lol? If he allows it, you're legal. If not, it would be considered hacking. Especially if he told you not to.
