When I started out as a substitute teacher in the Fort Smith, AR school district, I was paid 50 dollars/day. After 20 days the pay went up to 55 dollars/day. Then the substitute teachers got a raise, after MANY years. We started at 55 dollars/day then after 20 days we were paid 60 dollars/day. When I got certified we I was paid 65 dollars/day.
I do agree with several of your responders, not nearly enough.

In suburbs outside of Detroit, Michigan, the range is from 75 to 90 dollars a day working a 6 and a half hour day that included a preparation hour and a lunch. This job can not be your main source of income in this area of the country.

Rural Minnesota is $80-$95 per day. It depends on which district you are in. In the city (Minneapolis/St. Paul and the burbs around it) the pay is $100-$135 per day, with a raise after working in a district for a specific number of days.
Minnesota requires state teaching licenses, or a hardship license to sub.

I teach in northern ny and there is a large sort from district to district. our college will pay $80 5 for an approved complete day sub and $75 for a non-qualified sub. The district close to by employing is $ninety and $75. In NYState we've a shortage of subs. we are always pulling from community electorate who're no longer very knowledgeable about coaching practices. maximum districts base their pay of subs on how a lot training you've in training ,or once you've a 4-three hundred and sixty 5 days degree.

In my country (Argentina), substitute teachers get paid exactly the same as "regular" teachers (which is, in any case, not nearly enough to make a good living).

I clear $57.75 after taxes a day 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
A half day I get right around $30.00 a day.
It really depend on how well the students are managed on a daily basis as to how hard of a day I have.
