NO WE ARE NOT. And for the first time in my life I can't afford health care, health insurance or dental insurance!!! I've had breast cancer and extremely high blood pressure!! (I'm not that OLD either).
We are not being represented anymore - we have to help everyone else -- illegal immigration, etc. My income taxes get paid but.......oh forget it. I'm so angry with it all right now I could scream!! The elderly Americans are confused about whatever it is Bush is trying to fake helping them with so they can't do anything. This administration sucks so bad!!!! At least MRS. BILL CLINTON was involved in health care!!! As far as my feelings are concerned, I do not "deserve" to live because I am not RICH>>>>> I'm not the only one who feels this way. I've worked since I was 13 years old -- was born in Washington DC, and have a granddaughter and this is how my life has to be now. I'll be working until the day I die.

No, we are no longer being represented and haven't been for 6-8 decades. Big money and socialists drive the agendas in politics in the USA. Both sides want a subserviant society and neither side represents the people except through lip service to get votes from those fool enough to keep participating in the process. If anyone doubts that voting is rigged at all levels of government, then the fiasco in Florida between Bush and Gore should send a clarion call.
This is not an issue of Democrats versus Republicans, for neither side represents what their party name suggests. The Democrats support as socialist/communist agenda, and the Republicans support a fascist agenda.
And for the sake of clarifiying the issue, here is the difference between socialism and fascism. In a socialist state, the state controls business and industry. In a fascist state, business and industry control the State. They are two sides of the same coin.
The USA was not formed as a democracy, despite 150 years of propaganda to make us think so. When you pledge allegiance, it is to the Republic for which it stands - not the Democracy. The framers of the Constitution detested and abhored democracy and found it the prime reason for the collapse of ancient Greek society. To understand their utter disgust at democracy, read the Federalist Papers, and then read the Anti-Federalist papers. Many of the Anti-Federalists were staunch believers in Democracy. The best definition of democracy is two wolves and a sheep having a vote over what to have for supper. You know how that vote comes out. Democracy, for all the niceties surrounding the word today, is nothing but mob rule.
To put it in better context, the USA has a population of about 300 million people (give or take a few million). China has a population of over 2 billion people. If we were to join a democratic global organization, which some people in our government suggest, what chance would a democratic vote by the USA have against that of China in such an organization? Democracy? Everybody better rethink what that word really means and what it portends for the futore of the world if we are all fool enough to walk that road.

As long as there are Democrats and Republicans then we're not represented. we're just seen as potential votes. But why should they fear us when none of us actually do anything? We just sit on our asses and let them make decisions for us. I wonder how many think of voting as just some chore in this country. Many citizens have lost sight of what it is to be an American because of the priviledged lifestyle we have. Alot of people take it for granted. This lifestyle has made us lazy and we get caught up in our private lifes that we feel political issues are something we don't have to worry about.

Well Rob, We have different layers of government to deal with different kinds of issues. The Federal Government is Responsible for negotiating treaties, national defense, and delivering the mail. State governments are responsible for building and maintaining roads, some law enforcement, and whatever else is specified in the state constitution.
Local governments are responsible for local issues and services, such as police protection, building codes, zoning, schools, etc. Local governments deliver more services per tax dollar than any other level. They are the most effective level of government, and deal with the day to day needs of people.

Love the jab at bob, good one. Now..., no, we are not being represented. If we were, the Patriot Act wouldn't keep getting renewed, people wouldn't have to worry about others saying that thier choice of lifemates would be invalidated, our leaders wouldn't argue that putting MORE arsenic in the water wasn't that bad, and we wouldn't have someone who sounds like a friggin' retarded chimp in the White House.
