Did you find any blood in it's tank? If you leave his/her food in the same tank it may have been bitten at one point and now is infected. Or an Abcess.

When I got 1 of our last little ball pythons she arived and had a bump on her back (top side) and it was born that way. It hasn't gotten any bigger.

Is the snake eating and acting normal? Keep an eye on the bump any changes I would take it to the vet right away, just to be on the safe side.

Best of Luck

Just a guess. If this snake was a wild capture or has been in contact with other snakes, it could be a tick. Look at the bump with a magnifying glass & check to see if it has legs. If it is a tick, you can easily remove it using tweezers, then change the snake's bedding & clean the cage.

Was your snake outside? Someone might have shot it with a bb gun. Elsewise, it could be a natural thing. What kind of snake was it? I raised snakes a few years ago, email me if you want to tell me the details and I'll try to help. ronscott1951@yahoo.com

If you feed your snake live food (mice), it could have gotten bit, which in turn could cause a bump and infection.

If you feed your snake live food ,such as mice ,he could have been biten or scratched. When I had a snake I was told to feed him frozen mice only to avoid any such instances.

Maybe it saw itself in a mirror and thought it was another snake and decided to strike.

if it becomes discolored, larger or even starts discharging, it's an infection. watch it for a few days to see if it goes down. if not she needs a vet.
