So easy to say Zidane.

But we must also look at what was said by Materazzi.

No, there's excuse for what Zidane did, but that doesnt mean that whatever Materazzi said was justified.

To answer your question, I say both.

Well well well i think Materazzi overreacted and i think Ref made biggest wrong call of the tournament because he actually didn't see what happened between the players.I was cheering for Italy but as far i know, ref should have talked to other officials before giving out a red card based on Italians complain. No matter what Zidane is the best player out there and people would always remember him for his skills and not the head butt...i think Zidane is a Legend that would always be remebered for his soccer tactics.

fox sports world just came out and said that both zidane and materazzi were talking about exchanging shirts when materazzi said "i would rather take the one off your wife... i wish you and your family..." i don't really remember the last part, but that's when zidane turned around ane headbutted him. The offical later gave a red card to materazzi after the game was over.

Zidane overreacted. He clearly headbutted Materazzi when he could've ignored him. Materazzi talked trash just like every other player does because players will say anything and do anything in order to win the game, especially the Finals at the World Cup. This game isn't as perfect as people think and it shows every year.

Zidane... regardless of what Materazzi said, Zidane should have played and make every attempt to score a goal and then use that as a way of getting back at Materazzi

To poster Genius Of Da... the assissant refs on the sidelines seen it and they informed the main ref about it..

First of all, I'm VERY happy that Italy won the WC. I think throughout the tournament they played well and have one of the most solid defences around (way to go Cannavaro!!) HOWEVER, I don't think what Materazzi did was right. You don't continue taunting someone until they lose their cool. Was Zidane wrong for head-butting him? YES!! But cut Zidane some slack. We all lose our cool when we're frustrated, stressed and tired AND buddy had 1 BILLION people around the world watching him. Don't blame him for losing it. Zidane was rightfully red-carded but Materazzi should have to explain himself to the FIFA review panel.

Silly, you're just silly! No one has a right to get physical with another person. I'm sorry, no matter what Materazzi said Zidane is at fault.

Needs thorough investigation. If materazzi insulted Zidane, he must be punished like suspension, fine money or else.

obviousley Zidane.... whatever Materazzi said it's not a reason for his headbutt .. maybe he was tired n' think that it's a bullfight not football with fair play rules!!

I totally agree with Ryan. As a captain of the team you know to put your team ahead of yourself, your problems, your pain and insults against you. What Zidane did was quite selfish frankly.
