My mom and I go shopping together...grocery shopping or for clothes...just a way to spend time together...
My dad and I drink beer or go to a bar together...I get along better with my dad than my mom.

Have a cook out, go to some sports event (a baseball game etc.), go shopping at a shopping mall and eat lunch out. Do any of you like to go fishing? Maybe golf, or tennis. Swimming, hiking or camping. Visit other relatives near you. Ask them what they'd like to do. If they plan to stay 4 days, they must be confident you will all find something to do. You are probably worrying too much. Just relax and enjoy their visit.

Cook a BIG meal - together. Let your parent decide what they want to eat. Then everyone pitch in a cook it from scratch. Have an appetizer - this will hold you while you prepare the food and goof off while doing it. For dessert - go to an ice cream parlor and take a walk while eating it.

okay call me an old timer----but find out what they like to do
or if my parents were still here and what i want to know now- is about my up bringing- their upbringing- their childhood memories their fav photos, and share stories- iknow it would be awkward but in the long run you may be glad you did this
we went to antique malls- zoos- picnics-movies-played old family home movies- just have a good time and never let that moment go by to tell them that you appreciate all they did for you and that you love them- love comes in many forms...enjoy

HEY----They are not old birds. My husband and I are in our mid 50's! I feel as young as I did when I was 40.
What kind of interests do they have? Have a cookout and invite all your friends for them to meet.
BUT, the main thing is...........they really just want to spend time with you. Relax, enjoy them and let them enjoy you. Play it by ear. Let them love you and be sure to let them know you love them too.
Best of Luck and God Bless you and your family!
Thank you.

I usually play games with my parents that they like, such as scrabble, dominos, or card games. This gives us a chance to talk, but we can sit and think as we play, also. Not so much pressure to have to talk all the time, plus kind of fun!

Pretend that you are interested in all the things they are and fake a good time. The most important thing to our parents is that we spend time with them.

Disco?
No, really you should do a light physical activity like golf...or hiking on a well-paved trail nearby...maybe pretend to be a gay couple...they'll never come back!
