Prenatal pills are a very good thing for the babies development and to prevent birth defects. That doesn't mean that your baby will certainly have birth defects if you don't take them so don't get too scared if you haven't taken them. People had babies long before prenatal vitamins were available. But get them as soon as you can. They have them at every place that sells vitamins.

If you are well-nourished, you do *not* need to take vitamins when pregnant. Unless you have a vitamin or mineral deficiency, your body won't even absorb the nutrients in the pills (but you *will* have the healthiest *toilet* in town!!). A lot of people keep going on and on about folic acid; the primary reason that is so important today is that if you used hormonal birth control in the last 2 years or so, you are very *likely* to have a deficiency.

It is very important to take them. It not only makes the baby stronger, but it also keeps you at your best. By not taking them, you are running a higher risk of your child being born with a health problem. However, a lot of babies are born without having had them. Is that a risk you are really willing to take though? It's not that hard to take them, and isn't a couple seconds out of your life to swallow a pill a small thing to do?

Why wouldn't you take your prenatals?!? Of course it could affect your baby, especially if you don't eat a healthy, balanced diet. The vitamins also have folic acid, which can help prevent neural birth defects. There's no guarantee that they could have a negative affect on your baby, but in my opinion, they can only help! If they're causing you problems somehow, talk to your doctor.

If you consistently eat a very healthy nutritious diet, you should be fine and will probably still need to supplement your intake of folic acid. One trick my sister did was to take her prenatal vitamins with a half glass of Sunny Delight. LOL. I guess it helped her to keep the huge horse pill sized vitamins down. Be sure you eat something if you take the supplements. ((((hugs))))

Millions of women all over the world have babies without taking suppliments, if you are on a well balanced diet you should be fine. Suppliments help make sure you and the baby are OK but in a society that has fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and water you shouldnt need them.

i will inform you what the health care specialist advised me. The prenatals are literally not for the toddler (notwithstanding, the folic acid difficulty is authentic---yet many stuff now-a-days are enriched with folic acid because of those analyze). The prenatals are for the mummy> the toddler will SUCK inspite of it needs out of the mummy.....this is the mummy who will conflict through with anemia or low calcium degrees etc.

If the doc prescribes something, just take them. How hard is it to take a few pills, especially when it could potentially effect your pregnancy and/or baby's health.
