The Catacombs in Paris are an immense maze of tunnels dug under the city. In 1786, all the bodies from Cimetiere des Innocents were exhumed and moved into the tunnels under Denfert Rochereau.

And yes, very dodgy things have happened there including wild parisian parties and even a few deaths. As the catacombs feature a unique bone collection of 5 to 6 million people that covers a surface of 11.000 square meters in 300 km of old mine corridors, peop[le have been said to have made their way down only to get lost and die of starvation.
Did you know there's also a movie theatre down there now?

Yes, it is true. And I am sure that something "dodgy" has happened down there. At one point in time they were used as quarries, but in the 18th century, it was converted to catacombs. Check the link for a lot more info.

Oui, il'y'a des catacombs sous de Paris.
A while back the police found ,as another answer says, an illegal cinema, and nightclub down there ,with full electrical setup ,etc..All strangely abandoned, and a complete surprise to them.
Now that's what you call an 'underground'.

Yes. They have a lot of stories (specially terror stories) attach to them. Nowadays you can go on a tour to the sewers and see some of those. I know a friend who went on that tour and he said it was amazing.
