out of state travel and living. And was wondering, how do you make yourself comfortable once you moved out of the same spot you lived for your whole life?

Take a few personal things that are easy to transport and always put them where you can see them. That will make each place your home. Do some homework on the new place to find out where the things you enjoy such as museums, banks, grocery stores, parks, etc. so that you'll be familiar with the area before you get there. I did this for a few years and I have many memories and wonderful stories. Go with an open mind and while sometimes you'll be homesick you may really have fun.

Just think of it as an adventure!
You will get homesick! You will miss your friends and family, but you will have so much fun!!
In the last 15 Years I have lived in every state south of the Ohio river! My biggest and best tips are:
Take your favorite woobie! The one thing that makes you feel safe and comfortable, mine was a necklace given to me by someone very special, and a photo album!
Make sure that you pack a box with a couple of bottles of water, some fav munchies, bathroom stuff- t.p., toothpaste and toothbrush, shower supplies including a towel ect., basicly anything you will need for the first night in a new place. Make sure that you keep that in the car with you! We always called that the first night box. Oh, make sure you have a small tool kit and a first aid kit in there too.
If you will be living in motels, you should get an electric skillet, one of the worst things about moving around is not know the area and the restaurants! Atleast with an electric skillet you can cook yourself a meal that you know that you will like, and you can cook anything in them right down to a cake!!!
You will have fun!
Good luck!

You're definitely speaking my language. I lived in Ohio for 10 years and loved it and was so comfortable, then I had to move to Maine for my husband's job. It was really hard, but the best thing I did was try and get involved ASAP. See if the local Chamber of Commerce has a group for new residents. Also, try and find some places in your new state that you think will grow on you like your home did - a cute coffee shop, an awesome drive-in theater, or just a nice park to spend some time in. It's really really hard to uproot (after living in Maine for 8 months we moved again, to Michigan, so I know) but as long as you get out there and start making new friends and getting comfortable, you'll get settled.

Think of it as a new experience. You've been couped up all your life in one spot, and it's a big world out there. You'll be homesick for a while, but explore where you're going, and maybe you'll meet the right people and find the places that make the new city/town home... Have moved through three states. ANd really wouldn't hesitate to move again. I just hate the packing part!

Well, you may be like me. I lived my whole life til I was 19 in one state, then due to my husband being stationed in Germany, I had to move there. It opened up a whole new world to me, and I've never been able to stop moving. I LOVE the adventure of a new place, new people, new things to see & do. I have lived in Minnesota, Germany, Iowa, Colorado, California (both north & south), Florida, and Catalina Island, which is just off California. Enjoy the adventure. You can always go back home, but I bet you won't want to!

Well, I guess it just depends on your view of where you are moving and all.
I grew up in Illinois for 30 years.
Then my husband (ex now) and I decided to make a big decision and moved 8 hours away to Kansas.
And we LOVE IT HERE!
I wouldn't even think about moving back to Illinois.

If you accept it and are open minded about the move you'll do fine.

one component you're able to attempt to do is seek for jobs there now on a similar time as your nonetheless in Arkansas. refer to Wal-Mart with regard to the pass as properly. look and notice what the economic gadget is like in Richmond. The housing there may be greater effective than what your conscious of. $4000 may be sufficient to get you started yet no longer settled. to no longer point out the fact, those days with a view to get an condominium, you're able to desire to have some usual credit or a job for longer than six months and or the two. i do no longer understand once you assert your parents wont provide help to bypass.whilst your already 20. you're an person and you will bypass each and every time your waiting.i'm hoping their no longer that controlling and are having you have self belief which you're able to desire to constantly do what they say. the two way, once you get waiting to speak to them, you already be conscious of they are able to have many the explanation why you mustn't. only be arranged to respond with mature solutions like, interest, housing, money to get you via etc. good luck!

I moved from MA to CA. ALl the way across country. You just have to go for it. I actually loved Cali. I lived there for 2 yrs. Right in San Diego. So awesome. You have to get used to the different people, different surroundings, different everything! You;ll get used to it though. I think the hardest thing for me, was that my whole family desides my sis was in MA. I went from having everyone and going to all sorts of parties, to my sis, her hubby and soon after my (awesome) niece. To tell you the truth, I loved it there in Cali, but I did move back to MA after the 2 yrs. There was just way too much there for me...i miss it, but I am meant to be in Boston!!! Good luck in your travels!!

Get one of those county maps they have, drive around and see how many places you can find. It is fun, and you learn where everything is in relation to where you live, so you can find it again later when you need it.
