Most sports and/or competitions require that you begin young. Gymnastics, dance, ect are a few. However, are there any sports that women can begin over the age of 35, and still compete? I'm open to any and all possible competitions. Something physical and competitive.

Running! Most races put you in age groups, so each time you hit a new age group your chances improve.

No sport requires that you start at a young age. The coaching situation may require it but the sport itself makes no such demands. Sports like cycling or running may be more - condusive - to adult success because they don't really require a coach so the adult athlete really doesn't have to worry about being ignored instead of coached or stuck in a non-progressive type of class.

In australia... We have softball. Im not sure if you are in america and in the US have softball. I enjoy it alot, I am not that fit but it is a work out but its not too overbearing. I think its a great sport to get out and get fit and have fun at the same time.. Its not too dangerous but it is fun and there is a special comp for masters. Which is women over 35. You should look into it. Thats if you have it in your country.

There is always squash. Lol, you can play this way into your 80's if you're up to it. It's much like tennis. You don't rely on getting a team together, or getting good weather. It's even perfectly fine to go onto the court and have a hit to yourself to practice. So...any age, any time of day or night, any weather conditions, just about any country, and any number of people can enjoy this game. Just one to think about anyways.

Womens' recreatinal soccer is still pretty competitive. There's usually a volleyball league somewhere too. I assume that if you want competitive, that you are capable of being competitive.

if you mean compete at a world class or olympic level, your options are more limited.

archery is good, there have been world champions over 50 years old.
or any of the shooting sports, like pistol or rifle.
