Pros: Like posted earlier, they can improve strategy-building skills, coordination, thinking skills and you can meet people with similar interests. It can keep you occupied when bored and even teach you.

Cons: If you live inside your house all day like a monk, you will end up with no social life and not know how to work with the outside world. If you play a foot away from the screen in a dark room for many hours straight, with a game that flashes a lot, and you feel your eyes getting tired but you continue to play anyways, you have a high risk of getting into a seizure which could cause a convulsion and severe brain damage if not caught early enough. People who have seizures can unconsciously 'bite' their own tongue off. That's why its good to place something in your mouth (if your playing) or in the person with the seizures' mouth.
