The rooms are always MUCH cheaper in Vegas from Sunday through Thursday. Weekends are much more expensive because of all the Californians that go there during the weekend. And you're right about Circus, Circus. I always try to stay at the newest hotel so that the rooms are fresh and new. Cheap things to do? Just walk from casino to casino and see each one. That doesn't cost anything and they are each so unique and worth seeing. You'll get lots of exercise and a nice suntan.

Stay at the Flamingo Hilton. Its fairly cheap and its not too trashy and its located on the center of the strip, therefore, you won't need too much cab fare to get around. There are many free things for you to do while in Vegas. The Bellagio water show is free as is the flower display located inside the hotel. The Mirage has a volcano which is nice to see. Mirage also has a dolphins that you can see but you have to pay for it and I think its only $10 or $15. Good luck and have fun!!

Besides the obvious, gambling, Vegas has a ton of shopping, TONS of shows and even theme parks. You can also take a trip to the Hoover Dam.

If you like going to see the high end shops (ie: Gucci, Armani, etc) most of the high end resorts have their own shopping area. You can see a $1000 wallet to a $4000 gown just by window shopping.
Vegas has a couple of outlets and they will even pick up at the strip.

If you want to catch a show, but don't want to spend a ton of money, flip through your Visitors Guide in the hotel room. They have coupons (ie: buy one get one) and there's the Coca Cola ad. In the Coca Cola building you can get 1/2 price tickets on the day of the show. You got to get there early and usually its not the big hits like Avenue Q, Phantom or Celine Dion, but you can get a show for 1/2 off nonetheless.

You can also do the spa thing or just relax by the pool.
The city is opened all night, so you can do anything ANY TIME!

If you like eating, they have world class restaurants too! Each restaurant has 2, 3 and 4 star restaurants, and the hotter they are, you will need a reservation. For a great deal, try Mr. Lucky's at the Hard Rock Cafe/Casino. They have a great steak and shrimp deal for $7.77. You get a soup or salad, steak and grilled shrimp for $7.77.

Or, do what I do.. just hop casino to casino! Each casino is so unique inside, that you can just see each one, and that will take you all day! There's a monorail you can take, but it cost money. You can buy an all day pass or a 10 stop pass (you can share the 10 pass with a friend).

When I go to each casino, I sign up for their "Players Card". Its free and you can get deals using their card. Some will give you discounts on food and drinks, some will comp you rooms when you gamble with them. Plus, they make great free souvenirs!!

I am making sure I read your question correctly. You said, "I didnt choose the cheapest hotel but you want to stay on the Strip". (As Owner of a Travel Agency I encounter this dilemna on occasion) I myself would have to assume and intrepret that as you saying that you've shopped around for a Hotel in Vegas, but haven't decided as of yet.

A general rule of thumb in getting a room on the Strip is deciding on, at the very least, a particular week in April 2007. April is what is considered the "off-peak" season, which is another way of saying that room rates are cheaper in April as opposed to holidays, certain events going on in Vegas, and certain months of the year. Some basic questions do come to mind:

1-Hotel only? Air/Hotel? Vacation package?(These are the most cost-effective overall)
2-Looking for, since you'll be 21 when you arrive in Vegas, any particular type of entertainment? Certain Hotels cater to different types of customers, hence that question being asked.

Small details for sure but important in once resolved, it will be lots easier to find accomodations in April 2007. If you could kindly either call, email me at: indysteve1563@yahooo.com, or reach me through Yahoo Messenger with what you have in mind, we can sift through the many possibilities that are available to you that will satisfy your wants, needs, and will be the most cost-efficient overall.

When I went I really enjoyed just walking around and seeing everything. You know, taking cheesy tourist pictures. That's ALWAYS free. Also, I did a lot of penny/nickel slots because even though I still lost my money it took a lot longer and so I was entertained longer.
