I THINK THESE ARE THE WRONG TEAMS TO COMPARE. FIRST, THE 88 NINERS ALMOST DID NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS BECAUSE MONTANA WAS INJURED DURING THE SEASON. THE 88 TEAM MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE WORST RECORD OF THE FIVE TEAMS THAT PLAYED IN THE SUPER BOWL AT 10-6. THIS WAS NOT THIER BEST TEAM STATISTICALLY. THE STEELERS 75 SQUAD WAS ARGUABLY THIER BEST ALTHOUGH MOST WOULD SAY THIER BEST DEFENSIVE TEAM WAS IN 76 AND THE OFFENSIVE WAS 79. TO ANSWER THE QUESTION- 75 STEELERS 31 AND THE 88 NINERS 24. HOWEVER THE 75 STEELERS COULD NOT BEAT THE 89 NINERS

Steelers would win. Unlike the 49ers at the time. Steelers had a dominant and consistent defense. But it wouldnt matter because the Packers of the '60s would kill them both.

Despite the awesome passing game of the 49ers....The passing ,running & defense of the Steel Curtain would prove too much .27-13

niners...they are bigger almost man for man. and faster..the league has grown by size and speed each decade..their linemen would push the steelers around..it is hard to compare eras..just as those same steelers would beat the 60's packers...it is just the evolution of athletics..
