We will, though no one can predict the future as to when. More advanced technology is being developed all the time and already has in some cases, such as that to discern artificial radio waves from the gibberish naturally generated in space, or methods for figuring out the constituency of an extra-solar planet's atmosphere based on the color it shines.

Intelligence can only be recognized by another intelligence. That let's us out. What makes you believe we haven't already, in our own back yard, the ocean. Could it be that some of the mammals living in the ocean are intelligent, just not in the planet destroying style we call intelligence, making us unable to see or appreciate that they maybe as intelligent as us in their own way. Back to the original question: I don't think "we" will ever discover another intelligence at least one much more advanced than our own. We may discover an emergent intelligence like ourselves by accident. Good thing too, need to keep children apart. If we do find an emergent intelligence we will never be able to have a discourse with them at least in any time scale that would make it useful or valuable to us as a species. I do think we have a chance of "being discovered" by a more advanced intelligence. We may be being observed already but haven't demonstrated that as a species we are out of diaper school and may not survive our own growth path. Therefor no reason to expend resources or effort to bridge the gap. Sort of like why start a relationship that would only drain you if you are fairly certain the other is definitely going to suicide.

Whether or not we come accross any of the ETs, they do exist. Not that i'm saying i've encountered something. But do you really think in the whole wide space earth is the only planet gifted with life forms in such a big variety and no other planet wouldn't even have a percentage of it, a space of which no one has the knowledge of its boundaries, nor what galaxies does it hold, nor anything as a matter of fact. Definitely there are life-forms outside this planet its just that either they are too far off or some of they have already been here, we just dont know about it.

Well what ever year it may be I am pretty sure they would not share the same calendar.

I think GOD has played the biggest prank on all of us. He has strategically created huge voids of emptiness. Even if we think there might be other intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, because of the vast distances we will never be able to have communications with them.

Things to consider: The time it takes us to receive a signal at light speed. Wants we receive a signal we will spend thousands of years decoding it. Then we will send them a message "Hey, we got your message. Thanks for calling! Are you still there?" Talk about your long distant relationships, they never last.

I think we will "discover" intelligent life in the universe when they think we have matured enough as a species to become part of the universe.

The way things are going with the Muslim terrorists, Bush and the fundies, we may actually be losing ground toward that date.

First off you assume "we" are intelligent. Humans are the dumbest species on earth we dump toxic waste in the ground from which we eat . We foul our water with sewage and garbage which we drink from . We pump millions of pounds of toxins into the air we breath. Does this seem an indication of "intelligents " saddly no .
