Like the reclusive cat lady that yells at you for scaring off her cats?

Since when is a question generalizing something? I was just wondering.

I've noticed with some cat owners that they often care about their cats as if it were their children, theres nothing wrong with that but can this be a sign of something emotionally wrong with them?

I just have to post a response regarding "cats are dirty". FYI: cats are some of the cleanest animals/pets you can own. They are naturally tidy and well groomed and easy to house train. Additionally they are independant, delightfully curious and interesting!

Owners of three or more cats are simply smitten by this intriguing creature and willing to provide homes for these amazing creatures we share our world with....perhaps some of you need to seriously think about spaying or neutering so there wouldn't be so many unwanted kittens and cats!

The only emotional issue that comes to mind is compassion, caring and infinite love. Whether it's cats, dogs, birds or whatever...remember these are God's creatures and they have just as much right to life as you or I.

Lets see, dogs eat their own sh1t while a cat buries his. Yeah, that makes a cat nastier, suuuurrreeee. The moon is made of cheese, too.

Oh, and nice sweeping generalization in that question! Well it IS a sweeping generalization. For one thing you ask a question with an ANSWER IN mind that YOU already want.

By this I mean: I've noticed with some cat owners that they often care about their cats as if it were their children, theres nothing wrong with that but can this be a sign of something emotionally wrong with them? You start out polite enough, then comes the attack, and please don't get me wrong, it IS an attack, however well worded. "but can this be" well, of course it can. ANYTHING can be a sign if you look close enough. Your mother collecting aluminum cans or coupons could be if you care to be that paranoid. Then you say above that "Like the reclusive cat lady that yells at you for scaring off her cats?" What scares you the most that she's reclusive or that's she's p1ssed because you were throwing rocks at her cats and she cared? Was she not supposed to care that some brat was scaring her pets? Does showing her concern make her mentally unhinged or does it make you for tormenting animals?

I wonder about this too. I know a lady that has 4 cats and one of them is always pregnant so they sell the cats after a few weeks. I also believe that she has some sort of emotional issues because she's always yelling, doesn't really leave the house, her grown children still live at home, she doesnt work, she won't even drive a car..maybe you are onto something that I've never really thought about.

This person may have an affinity for cats - or perhaps they felt compelled to rescue them... who knows - it doesn't mean they have emotional issues. I mean , I have a dog and a cat - does that make me a dichotomy? I think not.

PS BMWgirl is sooooo wrong about dogs..... but to each their own :) i love my pooch... he's a big sweetie.

Love, respect, and empathy for animals is an admirable thing. Who is to say what the limit of this should be? Does a veterinarian who loves animals have "emotional issues"?

I believe a lot do. Cats are dirty. I wouldn't own a dog either, but they rule compared to a cat.

Probably is a connection with that kind of lady. That many usually will make your house smell and give you allergies.
Animals are known to make you feel better if you are down or sick.
