There is a fine line between genius and insanity...."Syd" will live on forever through his quirky, amazing and controversial lyrics.
Roger Barrett will be missed. He passed on Friday July 7th.It is true he had suffered from mental illness as well as diabetes in his later years. He had become a recluse for many years. There are many web sites that have been around for years that are specifically for Barrett fans. Also books for those interested:
*Madcap - Tim Willis
*Crazy Diamond Syd Barrett & the Dawn of Pink Floyd - Mike Watkinson & Pete Anderson
*Lost in the Woods - Julian Palacios

Just to list a few. Check http://amazon.com you may have to search for imports. Another good spot would be e-bay ( To bad it takes a tragedy for people to take notice)

Roger "Syd" Barrett is now performing his big gig in the sky....when you look up into the evening sky and see a bright light shinning - you will know. Shine on .

I love Pink Floyd , especially The first 4 albums. the . Unfortunately Sid was unable to continue and reap the bands success due to health problems. From what I heard and read he was a great guitar player. Doug Gilmour was not a bad replacement either. Very sad day.....

Just read it on a Yahoo message board. Some child mad about Michael Jackson moving out of his neighborhood is already trolling. He's probably ALSO pissed because of the long-run of "Dark Side of the Moon;" twenty plus years in the top 100 selling albums. Find me one today that lasts more than 52 weeks.

Sid was the punk driving force of fink ployyd Iv'e got a bike too. Unfourtunelatly the world has deevolved since he was at his best and the youth of today is more worried about wearing size 50 pants and putting their hats on sideways. History is dead and the youngsters have self lobotomized. It is hip to be a dumb$hit.

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
