We have heard endless stories about unethical corporate practices taking place throughout the world. Do you think this form of modern-day capitalism is actually contradictory of a democratic life? What do you think we can do to reverse his contradiction and make corporations behave as democratic institutions in a democratic society?

Corporations are not governments, despite often having equivalent resources as some small countries.

Corporations are artificial entities that have most of the same rights and obligations as living people. The fact that corporations can only operate through their agents/employees is the biggest difference.

Publicly held corporations already operate as a democratic republic. Shareholders elect a board of directors who make the decisions. If the shareholders don't like the decisions the directors are making, the shareholders can elect different directors. Just the way we'd elect different legislators.

Anything else in terms of subjecting corporations to control by the general public (as opposed to just shareholders) is actually in direct opposition to capitalism. Capitalism works through market pressures. If you don't like a company, don't support it -- don't buy its products. Or buy stock and vote for new directors. That's market pressure as well. And that is capitalism as its heart.

You have to separate governmental practices from corporate or company practices. No one says every practice in business is based on democratic principles. Businesses are out there to survive the best way they know how and some policies may not seem fair and ethical to you. The corporate business world has a far better operating record than our democratic government

You cannot. Corporations do not ask you to work there. If you don't like their setup you are free to leave (freedom of choice). Corporations have rules and regulations and policies to ensure that everyone is treated fairly. It is not about being democratic. Unethical corporations always fail in the long run.

A corporation is as close to a kingdom as you can get. We always have to remember that corporations are not people and should not have the same rights. Corporations have no business giving money to candidates.
