What one thing is most valuable then any other piece of baby furniture?

Definitly a Car Seat...if you consider that furniture....you wont be able to go anywhere in the car without one...and you should NEVER ride in the car without one!...anything else you can definitly do without (or compensate for in other ways). You dont need a swing (you can rock your baby yourself), you dont have to have a changing table (your bed or the floor will work fine) and you dont need a dresser (you can share yours).

The second most imporatant piece of furniture I would say is a crib (or bassinet), something for the baby to sleep in that is NOT in your own bed. It is much safer to put your baby in a seperate sleeping area than to have it co-sleep with you. You will also thank yourself later when your baby gets older and is already used to sleeping without you!!

Good Luck and Congrats

I would have to say the crib. You do not want your baby getting used to sleeping with you or anyone. I really cant think of a piece of baby furniture more important then that.

Most would say a crib but I really enjoyed having a changing table with drawers. It saves alot on your back which is important after delivery. The baby will end up in the bed with you more than you would ever have thought, specially if you're breastfeeding(which is highly recommended!) Best of luck to you

Although technically it is not baby furniture, but baby equipment, I would say a car seat. It is illegal to drive without one, not to mention extremely unsafe. Second would be a crib, even if you co-sleep it is good to have a safe place to put the baby if your attention is needed elsewhere for a few minutes.

With my first baby, I had a rickety wooden, uncomfortable rocking chair. I had no idea when I bought it....how much time I would be spending in it, up with the baby, night after night, nursing, for so many months. My butt was numb, my back ached, and it was miserable.

When I got preg with my second child, I told my Husband that we ARE going to buy me a nice, cushy, microfiber armchair that rocks and reclines.
We spent $300, and it is THE BEST $$ I spent on this baby. The most comfortable seat in the house, is in the nursery!

A crib...you can swing a baby yourself, rock them in your arms, change them on a blanket in the floor, make room in our own dressers and closet for their clothes or get a cheap dresser to repaint, but the baby has to have a place to sleep ad many hand me down older cribs have bars far apart enough for a baby to get their head stuck. A new crib.

Dresser to put his or her clothes in seperately
then a crib because if push come to shove it can sleep with you and many babies have in this lifetime.
But his own drawert space is important you will always know where his things are in a rush without rummaging through your mess.

A good sturdy crib with a good mattress. The bars on the sides should be close together so the baby's head can't fall through.

a car seat, if you want to consider that furniture. you can't take the baby anywhere in a car if you don't have that. and let's face it, when you have an infant and you can start driving again, you're going to want to go places just so you can interact with other adults. a baby can sleep in bed with you if you need it to.
