samples are a symptom of what you describe. is it a creative decision to 'sample' someone else's music over and over, or is it just a sign that an artist is unable to come up with anything original? there are a lot of songs that 'remind me' of another song i've heard in the past, wouldn't you agree?
on the other hand, how do people usually react when they hear something "new"? the dollar will lead the way...

yes I encourage a change... it's like rock is dead...there are all these rented bandswith wannabe screamer/whiner voices....yes a revolution of music is much needed ;)

i think it'll change on its own in time. everything works in a cycle. kinda like a "cricle of life" theory if you will.
