There is nothing inherently wrong with a 16-year-old boy who plays with Matchbox cars so long as it doesn't consume all his free time. Many people continue to collect and play with toys and games well into adulthood. I find myself occasionally buying a toy or two quite impulsively when I venture into the toy section of a Target or Wal-Mart store. I also buy some high-priced toys via on-line toy merchandisers because the toy reminds me of my past and my childhood when I didn't have to worry about paying bills, taxes, etc. Many men substitute their toy buying with video games, real cars, tech gadgets, etc. as they age. I have many grown-up toys that amuse me but there is something special and nostalgic about the toys, games, cards, comics, etc. that I've kept throughout my life. I hope I am able to pass on my toys to a son or daughter someday.

I have a 20 year old boyfriend that plays yu-gi-oh, watches cartoons, and likes to sword fight with plastic light savers. In my opinion, cars would be a nice change with some originality.

Are you kidding? I know grown men who are still building models, playing with cars or video games. It is kind of enduring actually to see the little boy in them.

I guess its interesting to see why it is not normal? I'm 32 and I'm just crazy about collecting cars. Unless there is a known issue in doing this, I think you can choose not to loose your sleep over it.

Only one thing doesn't mean anything.

If however, he plays cars, drools, talks baby talk, has tantrums, wets the bed, flings his feces, has no friends, likes to dress goth, and reads about guns and nazis... I'd be worried.

If he's otherwise not much different than any other guy -well, at least he's self-confident enough to enjoy life.

My Dad collected cars until he passed away at 81! He loved his cars. Now our boys... I mean, our young men (ages 27-40+++), love them even more because they were his.

I'm fifty and love them too. I collected them when I was a girl, rather than dolls.
