Michael Jordan was NOT the greatest player of all time. As a matter of fact, he's barely in the top ten. He WAS, without a doubt the most over-hyped and promoted player of all time.
The following players are all better than Jordan:
Larry Bird
Magic Johnson
Wilt Chamberlain
Bill Russell
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Oscar Robertson
Michael Jordan was probably the greatest player of the 90's though. But were it not for ESPN, Gatorade, Nike, Wheaties etc..., Jordan would not even be mentioned.
Bird, Magic, and Oscar all had better all aroung games. Bill Russell has more championships, and Wilt and Kareem were more dominating than Jordan. The only reason that Jordan has his 6 rings was because the NBA expanded to 29 teams, thereby diluting the overall talent of the teams. His Bulls couldn't do anything in the 80's against quality teams.
He was a great player for his time, but definitely not the greatest of all time.

Larry Byrd was better
He is for now, until LeBron hangs up his sneakers.
LARRY BIRD
all things considered yeah
I STRONGLY AGREE MY FRIEND BUT U FORGOT TO SAY IN WHAT SPORT HE IS THE BEST BUT I KNOW
Disagree, had Larry Bird not developed back problems and Magic Johnson HIV, Jordan would have a player on the caliber of Dominique Wilkins great, masterful dunks and not much else. Not enough credit has been given to Pippen and Horace Grant without them and the absence of Bird & Magic he never would have won a title.
One of the best players ever. (shouldn't disrespect others that were good players.)
thank's
Top Ten
10. Dr J.
9. Wilt Chamberlian
8. Kareem Abdul Jabbar
7. Kobe Bryant
6. Magic Johnson
5. Bill Russell
4. Karl Malone
3. Larry Bird
2. Shaq
1. Michael Jordan
yeah i totally agree 100%
4 now but he batter watch out 4 D-wade and King James but they have some big shoes 2 fill in. Plus they will have 2 win 6 or more rings and if they do then we can talk.

Jordan is defintely in the mix. If he's not the best ever he's in the top 3. Magic could be in the top 2 or the greatest ever, but Larry Bird. No way! He was good, but not on the level of Magic or MJ. Kobe and LeBron will join this discussion in some years to come.

Ok first of all to the first person who replied. It is Larry BIRD, not Byrd. Wow...
And that list above me looks good. Yes, MJ is the best ever. At first I didn't like seeing Shaq at second, but really, he has the same effect as MJ. If he is on your team, you win Championships. Even way back when, he got the Orlando Magic into the finals where they were beat by the better MJ and his Bulls.
