wrong info - tension band wiring is not the treatment for comminuted fractures- they are treated by patellectomy or cerclage wiring.

you had a transverse/ horizontal fracture with some comminution.good prognosis if the reduction( putting together the pieces) was good.
keep your quads strong. keep your insurance policy.

yes, there is a risk for oa knee, but what the hell, it will come any way!
enjoy life for now.
we'll treat it when it comes, if it comes.

forget about patellofemoral arthritis for now

I agree with Robin, you will have a greater risk of getting osteoarthritis under that patella.
