Im a nerd and id like to know why

People become popular because they are envied by others. This is usually caused by the way they act, talk, dress, etc. (Popular kids are also more likely to have a lower level of intelligence.) I have always believed in individualism, and even though I was "popular" when I was in school, I ALWAYS stuck up for the "nerds". If you want to be popular, you can accomplish this by getting a make-over, new clothes, adapting your attitude and actions to reflect those kids who are popular. But why?
Nerds are usually defined by their intelligence, lack of money (which makes them wear clothes that aren't "in") or the fact that they did or said something to one of the popular kids at some point that offended them or made them feel insecure, so that "popular" kid told everyone else that the person is a "nerd", and since "popular" kids just go with what everyone else says, it was taken as fact.
Be proud that you're a nerd and try your best to ignore the people who think otherwise. In the long run, it won't even matter.

You didn't say your age, but in the real world, no one will care if you were the most popular or the biggest nerd. If people consider you a nerd, it's probably because you're very smart and actually care about your education and are your own person instead of just going along with the crowd. I've often wondered your question, too. And I don't know the answer really, but I do know that you'll do well in life despite not having the best high school experience.

Most people who are nerds have no confidence and as a defense mechanism they act arrogant. Don't try and prove your worth to anybody. If you are in high school embrace your nerdom because the biggest nerds in high school are the ones that have great times in college and are successes in the real world.

Even some "nerds" are popular, believe me, being an Einstein is not a bad thing at all. It's all IMHO based on who you are as an individual and how others see you.

In general, nerds think more and are less outwardly emotional. They might also be shy. These qualities make them less popular.

because some people are so intelligent they use their brains so much that they forget to be confident, and confidence is the source and root cause of being popular

popular - nice clothes, hair, skin, social skills
nerd - broken glasses, high waters, pimples, skinny
