factor.

The first time it broke I was in the process of doing a ad-adware and it was showing spyware (43) but before it was done with the scan and I could take these off, the screen went blank.

The computer would not turn on (the light stayed off). (moniter was working but not computer)

Son replaced the motherboard and another part and said he thought it was fixed.

Turned on; it worked three minutes and then a screen came on saying file # such and such was corrupted or missing and to put in initial rebooting cd-rom and go to screen so and so to try to fix.

Computor will not shut off unless I unplug it. Son said it may need this part he has (but has not looked at it yet --one month ago it broke) and now talking of having to buy me a new one. Everyone's (both sons) mad at me and don't know how long it will take for them to afford one (I am disabled and on a small fixed income).

They said they thought the heat might have blown the motherboard, I was wondering if is so

It sounds like you could have a virus. If it said your files are corrupted, this could be the reason your computer isn't working properly. Try formatting the hard drive and reinstalling your software if you can. You might want to check if all the fans in your computer are working, if you think it's over heating.

No, computers are made tough enough, where if u can live in thy room , then so can they. it is far more likely that some kind of power surge happened. Do u have it plugged into a surge protector? if thy motherboard was blown, u would be able to c it on thy motherboard. U should c if u have warrenty on thy thing, or try calling technical support to c if they have any quick tips for people without a warrenty then. Since two motherboards did not work, it could also have been a pwoer surge or malfunction of some sort in thy power suply box where thy fan is attatched. Check inside there, there are two fuses in there, maybe all u need ot do is replace them. Or buy another power supply box.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, most of the time a computer fails it is software failure or viruses, then the moving heat generating parts have the next highest failure rate. Power supply is number 1, Next is hard drives, it is rare for the electronic parts to fail, memory, motherboard, and the Intel processor almost never fails. It is expensive to have a qualified technician check your computer but often it is cheaper as many people just replace parts without testing, from what you stated I would say the power supply failed, and that caused the second motherboard to fail. There is a power supply tester about $10 or most computer stores will test it for free, knowing if it is bad you will a new one.

yes it can it will slow it down first , if you have a CRT monitor it will usually flicker like a shop light. most production computers can survive at up to 88 degrees in a room, there is a free program you can download called mother board monitor - 5 it will tell you the temp of some of the components in your computer. i find it vary useful ,your sons can teach you how to use it .it has alarms when it gets too hot in the box.a small air conditioner in the room would help set it about 85 that way it wont cost too much to run.

it is possible but usually a computer will shut itself off before heat causes a problem and the processor will stop working before the mother board usually.....myy mothers crashed and died due to humidty and heat in combonation it causesed corrosion on some of the leads becasue she had it in a room where winows were open most of the time...so it is possible there may be some damage a new mother board is farelyt inexpensive you may also want to have more case fans installed i have 11 in my machine

It may be your fan for the power supply. It would cause your computer to over heat. Also it could be a cold sauter joint. Works great when cold but when the mother board heats up it separates. I would check the fan first

Could be. Try getting a watercooling system for it and maybe some new fans. Panaflo work well and are quiet.
