Strokes injure the brain, the brain is what allows you to understand something is wrong. If that area get messed up by a stroke the person will not have the ability to understand that something is wrong.
TIAs or "mini-stokes" have the same symptoms as a stroke, but the symptoms go away in a day or so. This makes people think nothing is wrong, when really this is a huge warning that they are at risk for a full blown stroke.
Strokes could also be so mild that is does not cause any lasting effects, leading the person to think any symptoms they had where caused by something else.

Some strokes are so minor that it is unnoticable. Lots of people have mini strokes and bounce right back because it wasn't grand enough to cause and damage. For more info on strokes go tothe site

Because a mild strokes symptoms may be dizziness, drowsiness, headache, light headiness and blurred vision.... most people will just assume they feel this way because they did not get enough sleep the night before.... yes, mild strokes can be totally missed by an average person....

just as you can have a heart attack and not know it. some people can have either with no pain not knowing they had one. the more damage, the more pain you will feel. strokes are caused by blood clots to the brain. if a clot is in the area of the nerve center putting pressure on certain vortex nerves, you won't feel the stroke.
